1. Load the toolbar as instructed above (you only need to do this once).
2. Run the command by selecting the toolbar icon or typing XLAYER.
3. Select the object on the layer you wish to edit.
4. The dialog appears with layer properties.
5. If the object is nested (i.e., within an Xref, within a block, etc.), use the dropdown list at the top to select a different layer for modification.
6. Press PICK to cancel current modifications and select a new layer to modify.
