Editing many blocks in place all at once.

常规使用说明

Prepare your drawings: it is recommended that your drawings have a specific Unit, not Unitless. Run the Autodesk® AutoCAD® UNITS command to check it out.

1.  Details of the Open Blocks/Drawings window

+ Select block names in the list and click Add. You can also click "Select blocks from current drawing screen" to select blocks.

+ To open external drawings, click the "Browse for block drawing files" button.

+ Click OK and specify an insertion point. Then, your blocks and/or drawings will be placed in green frames called "editors".

+ In the editor, the source block is exploded to native drawing objects. You can edit it normally using AutoCAD tools. Note that, keep your change within the green frame "editor". If it is out of space, move it to a wider space and extend its dynamic length and height via its stretch points. See the screenshot "the editor frame" below.

+ After changes are made, it is time for the next step to save changes by running the command "Save Blocks and/or Drawings" from the palette.

2.  Details of the Save Blocks/Drawings Window

The default "Target to Save" option is "Save to Original Blocks or Drawings".

You can also:

+ Save blocks as drawings to a folder: Select a folder, for example, "T:\Test 7cad BatchEditBlockInplace". Then block "A" will be saved as "T:\Test 7cad BatchEditBlockInplace\A.dwg", and so on.

+ Save/Export as Blocks to Selected Drawings: select one or many drawings and block "A" will be exported to those drawings. If the target drawing already has block "A", it will be overwritten and, hence, updated.

Another option to choose from is "Target Unit to Save". You can "Keep Original Units", or convert blocks to another unit. You should do this with special consideration. Copy your drawings to a test folder to test the routine first. Change to the current host drawing can be undone by the Undo command, but changes saved to external drawings can be undone only by restoring the .bak drawing file.

7cad has a special routine to convert block units. It does the following:

+ Change block unit, as you can do in AutoCAD Block Editor

+ Scale block's nested objects up or down properly.

+ Scale all inserted block instants up or down properly.

The purpose of this routine is to make sure after converting to a new unit, the block still retains the same geometry displayed on your drawing. This can't be achieved by using AutoCAD Block Editor.

3.  Change Block Units

This command uses the above special routine to convert block units.

It has three more additional commands within:

+ Change blocks to "Allow Exploding".

+ Change blocks to "Not Allow Exploding".

+ Convert dynamic blocks to normal anonymous blocks.

4.  Explode blocks

Sometimes you want to explode some blocks but get stuck because it is not allowed.

Then you can try this handy command. It works in most of the cases. Even when the block is non-uniformally scaled, it still works.
