Machining Essentials: Your Comprehensive Toolset for Efficient Machining in Autodesk® Fusion®

Transform your machining workflows with the Machining Essentials app, designed to streamline your tasks within the Manufacture workspace of Fusion. This app introduces a dedicated Machining Essentials tab, complete with two powerful panels: Create and Inspect.

Create Panel

1. Selection Sets from Color:

• Effortlessly manage your models by generating selection sets based on face colors.
• Simply select a solid body as input, and the app will create sets of faces sharing the same color, naming each set according to the color name.
• These selection sets enable you to quickly and easily select groups of faces by color, facilitating more intuitive and efficient part manipulation and editing

2. Sketch Hole Profiles:

• Streamline the process of preparing for hole machining with this innovative feature.
• Select a solid body as input, and the app generates a new Fusion document, creating unique sketches for each recognized hole profile.
• Visualize and measure each hole’s profile for accurate tool selection, ensuring optimal milling operations.

Inspect Panel

1. Prismatic Feature Analysis:

• Enhance your inspection capabilities with comprehensive feature recognition and analysis.
• Input a solid body to identify and analyze holes and pockets, including intersecting holes and feature proximities.
• The analysis results are presented in a detailed report table, organized by feature direction.
• Gain insights into feature characteristics such as through-hole status, height, cross-sectional segments (cones, cylinders, flat faces), face count, face area, and nearest neighboring features.
• The report table also highlights duplicate features and intersecting holes. Interact directly with the canvas to view and highlight detected features for thorough inspection.

Additional Inspection Tools

In addition to its unique features, Machining Essentials provides easy access to existing Fusion inspection commands within its Inspect panel, including:

• Measure: Quickly measure distances, angles, and more with precision.
• Section Analysis: Create cross-sectional views to thoroughly analyze internal features.
• Minimum Radius Analysis: Identify the smallest radii on your model to ensure manufacturability.
• Accessibility Analysis: Check the accessibility of features for various machining processes.
