MEP Opening is your new powerhouse tool for Autodesk® Revit®! Automatically model openings in slabs and beams for the passage of pipes, cables and ducts. 

 

This plugin offers a variety of customization options for creating openings:

  • Choose between the current or linked model for both the structural model (RVT or IFC) and MEP discipline (RVT).
  • Specify the MEP discipline name for unique identification parameters in the created openings.
  • Define the default gap between piping and structure.
    • Support for circular and rectangular openings.
  • Select desired nominal diameters for creating openings.
  • Establish the minimum allowed distance to reference beams and slabs.
  • Define a minimum tolerance between openings to automatically group them.
  • Choose between different execution scopes.
    • Support for floor plans and 3D views. 

 

In addition to opening modeling, MEP Opening features:

  • Automatic verification of project guidelines.
    • Easily visualize openings that do not meet defined minimum distances.
    • Create review spheres for project coordination and easily highlight unapproved, under review and approved openings.
    • Generate review schedules to support collaboration and facilitate parameter input.
  • Automatic openings grouping
    • Define a tolerance for automatic grouping upon creation.
    • Choose if you want to group horizontal, vertical or all openings.
    • Or select the desired openings to group them manually afterwards.
  • Automatic identification of inverted beams.
  • Use of custom, standardized, and parameterized families.
    • Standardized symbology for differentiation of circular openings with different diameters;
    • Control handles for alignment with reference structural elements.
  • Identification of pre-existing openings, preventing the insertion of duplicate instances.

Current Execution Limitations:

  • Currently, the plugin supports MEP model links only in RVT format.

    • Beams (structural framing).
    • Slabs.
  • Currently, only MEP elements from the following categories are considered:
    • Conduits.
    • Cable trays.
    • Ducts.
    • Pipes.

Features and Improvements - Improved opening validation flow and interface – it is now possible to run validation after creating openings. - Insertion of review sphere families to enhance design coordination workflows. - Updated opening families (R03) to include parameters such as numbering and visibility controls for review spheres. - Improved hole grouping flow, allowing selection between grouping only vertical openings, only horizontal openings, or both. - Added a field in the opening creation interface to control the filling of reference element information (e.g., passing pipe, trespassed structural element). Bug Fixes - Fixed a bug during user authentication caused by unstable internet connection. - Fixed a bug where opening grouping performed during creation used a grouping tolerance larger than the value set in the interface. - Fixed a bug where opening grouping was applied to the entire project when using the “Group in current view” button.
