Installation/Uninstallation

To install the library, copy the folders included with this material library download into your 3ds Max Project folder. In default Max installations, this will be C:\Users\Username\Documents\3dsMax. If you have customized your Max installation or manually set another project folder, use that folder.

To use the B2M versions, make sure that you have copied your B2M2/B2M3 substance files to your project. To properly use those material libraries, you need to copy Bitmap2Material_2.sbsar and Bitmap2Material_3.sbsar files (and any other accompanying folders/files that go with those substances) into the project's sceneassets/images/substance folder.

Additional Information

Library Structure

The structure of the material libraries matches that of a standard 3ds Max Project. Material Libraries are included in a folder named materiallibraries. Image and Substance assets are located in the sceneassets/images folders.

The Material Libraries include both bitmaps and Substance files. Two substances are  included within the downloaded file: b2m_lite.sbsar and 4wayblends.sbsar. To utilize any material library that includes a suffix of b2m2 or b2m3, you must own the Bitmap2Material Substance from Allegorithmic. Those substances are not included with the library. Instructions on using these are in the Installation instructions below.

The material libraries also include versions that are named with a suffix of "_seamless". These libraries only work with 3ds Max 2017 Update 1 or later. They will only work with versions of 3ds Max that come with the BlendedBoxMap texture map. Do not open those libraries in older versions of 3ds Max.

Known Issues

  • The seamless libraries utilize BlendedBoxMap which is only in Max 2017.1+
  • The libraries with "_b2m2" require Bitmap2Material 2 (not included).
  • The libraries with "_b2m3" require Bitmap2Material 3 (not included).
