While 3ds Max 2016 is supported, for the best experience, make sure you have 3ds Max 2016 Service Pack 2 or higher installed.

In order to use the bitmap drag and drop feature from Asset Library to 3ds Max material slots, you will need 3ds Max 2017 Update 1.

Known Issues

Some performance and display issues may be resolved by clearing the cache directories manually and restarting the application. To clear, delete the following directories:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3ds Max Asset Library\cache\cache

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3ds Max Asset Library\cache\GPUCache

If these folders are locked, 3ds Max Asset Library application will crash on startup

If you have Dell backup and recovery. v. 1.7.5.64  installed, it will cause the Asset Library not to launch. Upgrade to newer version of the Dell backup and recovery and it will be fine.

DO NOT try to edit dependencies for Max files that are currently open. While it hasn't corrupted files during our testing, it could produce undesired results and is not supported.

The non-supported formats for thumbnails are mpg, mpeg, mov, avi, ifl, rpf, yuv
