1. Download and Install the App
   Install the ProtoTech Solid Edge Importer plugin on your system.

2. Launch 3ds Max
   Open the 3ds Max application.

3. Access the Plugin Menu
   On the 3ds Max menu bar, you will find a “ProtoTech SOLIDEDGE” menu. Clicking it will reveal the following menu items:

   • Import

   • Preferences

   • About Us

4. Import a Solid Edge Model

   • Click the ‘Import’ button.

   • A file open dialog will appear. Select the Solid Edge file you want to import.

   • The model will be imported into 3ds Max.

5. Set Import Preferences
   Go to Preferences to customize import settings:

   • Transfer Attributes – Checked by default; transfers attributes such as color.

   • Read Free Points – Check to import free points.

   • Read Free Edges – Check to import wireframes.

   • Read Hidden Entities – Check to import hidden entities.

   • Read Suppressed Entities – Check to include suppressed entities in assemblies.

   • Read Free Surfaces – Checked by default; imports free surfaces.

   • Reset Defaults – Click to reset all settings to default.

6. About Us
   Click the ‘About Us’ button to view information about the company, the product, and license details.

Installation:

• To use this plugin with 3ds Max, it is mandatory to have the ProtoTech Plugin Engine installed on your system.

• The installer for SolidEdgeImporterForMax will automatically install the Plugin Engine if it is not already present, and then proceed to install the SolidEdgeImporterForMax plugin.

Uninstallation:

• To uninstall the plugin, go to Control Panel → Programs → Programs and Features (Windows 7/8.1/10/11) and uninstall it like any other application.

• Note: Uninstallation of the Plugin Engine must be done separately, if required.
