Installation and Usage Guide:

1. Download and install STEPExporterForAutoCAD.exe.
2. Run AutoCAD and Load a model.
3. There’s an ‘Add-ins’ tab on the ribbon bar. It contains the following ribbon buttons as shown in the image below:  ‘Export', ‘Preference’, and 'About Us'.
4. Click on the ‘Export’ button to export the model to the .step file.
5. This will launch save as dialog in which you can specify the directory and filename of your choice.
6. The About Us button displays information about the company, product, and license details.
   
   

From preferences, you can set the options for the output file. The options are as follows:-

1. Write Free Points - By default, points are not exported to STEP. Check this to write out points.
2. Write Free Edges - By default, wire data is not exported to STEP. Check this to write wire data.
3. Application Protocol - We can select the required STEP Application Protocol in which we want to export the current STEP model. AP203, AP214, AP242 these application protocols supported from this version
4. Reset Defaults - Click this button to reset to default settings for STEP.

Installation

To use this plugin with AutoCAD, the Prototech Plugin Engine must be installed on your system.

• If the Plugin Engine is not already installed, the STEP Exporter for AutoCAD installer will automatically install it first.

• Once the Plugin Engine is installed, the installer will proceed with installing STEP Exporter for AutoCAD.
  
  

Uninstallation

1. Close the Autodesk product if it is currently running.

2. To uninstall the plugin:

   • Option 1: Rerun the installer and select the Uninstall button.

   • Option 2: Go to Control Panel → Programs → Programs and Features (Windows 8.1/10/11) and uninstall it as you would any other application.

Note: The Prototech Plugin Engine must be uninstalled separately, if required, through the Control Panel.
