• Installation

  • Download and install the Approx Autodesk® AutoCAD® extension from the Autodesk App Store.

  • After installation, restart AutoCAD to activate the extension.

• Opening Approx Panel

  • A new Approx tab and ribbon will appear in AutoCAD.

  • Use the Show/Hide Panel button to open the Approx side panel.

• Login

  • Sign in with your Approx account credentials.

• Working with Drawings

  • Insert or update room information blocks (ApproxRoomInfoBlock) in your AutoCAD drawing.

  • The extension automatically reads areas, perimeters, and heights from your drawing.

  • Sync your drawing with the Approx cloud platform in one click.

• Data Transfer to Approx

  • Project data (rooms, work orders, row types, etc.) is securely transferred to Approx.

  • Avoids manual entry errors and keeps CAD data in sync with project calculations.

• Reporting & Analysis

  • Access detailed cost and quantity take-off reports directly from the Approx web platform.

  • Reports include floor-based summaries, room lists, detailed sheets, and specifications.

• Collaboration

  • Multiple team members can work on the same project simultaneously.

  • Assign tasks and work orders to different users.

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from the Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin. Make sure that the Autodesk product is completely closed when running the installer.

To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button. OR, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Windows 10/11) and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.
