GRIDCHECK – Off Grid Vertex Checker

Checks the location of vertices of unblocked and blocked polylines, either globally or by-layer and marks them with a user configurable cross.

General Usage Instructions

To begin, first pick the Select Layers button to select the layer(s) to check and the Select Layer to Check Grid Value dialog box appears.

Select layers from the Available window and then pick the right facing arrow and those layers will transfer to the Use window. Reverse the process using the left facing arrow to remove layers from Use back to Available so the program will not check those layers. Pick OK and the Grid Check dialog box reappears with the layers selected in the Layers/Grid window.

Now that layers have been selected to check, there are 2 options to use:

Set the Grid Distance edit box value to use, and the program will check all the ‘selected layers’ using this value.

 To set each layer separately to individual distance values, double pick on a layer and use the Set Grid Checker Grid Value dialog box that appears as shown in the dialog box.

Type a value in the Grid Value edit box to set a specific grid value for that layer. Layers without specific grid values assigned will use the default grid value listed in the Grid Distance edit box.

 After setting the Grid Distance to either a global value or separately for individual layers, set the values for tolerance and marker sizes.

In the Tolerance edit box, type in a tolerance that will apply to all layers. If a vertex is off grid by less than this tolerance, an error will not appear.

In the Error Mark Characteristics area:

In the Mark Line Length edit box type in the size of the Error Cross (these will be polylines and this is the length of the Error Cross).

In the Mark Line Width edit box type in the width of the Error Cross (these will be polylines and this is the width of the Error Cross).

Pick the Color button to select a color from the color picker box and pick OK.

Finally after making the settings for layers to use, grid distance and marker size, pick OK to run.

The dialog will close and any artwork that has violated the boundaries set up and which is over the tolerance as well, will be labeled with markers. If you do not see any markers, the values set up for Mark Line may be too small.

Run the Grid Check application again to return to the dialog to view the errors.

Errors found will be listed within the large window with the X, Y coordinates and the layer name for all errors.

Double pick an error to zoom to it on screen (all layers will be turned off except the one picked)

 Return to Grid Check dialog again, to make new settings and repeat the process as needed.

 Additional functions to use:

 Pick the Refresh All Errors button if new values or layers were set post process to initialize the X Y layer window.

 Pick the Clean Mark to remove all the markers in the drawing.

Pick the Write button to save errors to file and write to a TXT file.

The TXT output file will contain today’s date, current time and the  path to the DWG that was checked and the list of errors as seen in the large window in dialog.

To uninstall this plug-in, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.
