Temporary Visibility and Graphic Override

Temporary Visibility and Graphic Override

Win32 and 64, English

Richard Stima
App temporarily overrides objects display. App has three parts 1) Display object vertices and their z-coordinates 2) Hide objects 3) Override objects properties (color, linetype)

General Usage Instructions

Run command VG.

App settings window is divided into three independent parts:

Show Vertices for Objects

User can select which objects will be displayed with vertices (cross mark). Available objects are:

LINE, POLYLINE, POLYLINE3D, ARC, SOLID3D, DBPOINT, DIMENSION.

Option to display vertices z-coordinates is also available.

Apply in Block, Apply in Xref: The vertices will be displayed also in Xref or Block. Note: values of z-coordinates are as defined within Xref or Block

Cross size: Negative number is relative to screen size and positive number is in absolute units. When using relative size, after zooming of the view run REGEN to update vertices crosses sizes.

Text size: Relative to cross size. Measurement value format is as set in drawing UNIT and STANDARD text style.

Max. and Min. Limits: Set the range of maximum and minimum z-coordinates to be displayed.

Hide Objects

Hide selected object types in entire drawing. Available object types are:

TEXT, MTEXT, DIMENSION, LEADER, MULTILEADER, HATCH, XREF.

Properties Overrides

Overrides color and linetype of all objects in entire drawing. Available options are:

Color=ByLayer or White, Linetype=ByLayer or Continuous

Note: Function works similarly as if you assign color object to Bylayer or to White. Complex objects such as MLEADER or MTEXT will keep their color as defined in Mleader style of Mtext formatting.

Apply

Apply visibility/graphic overrides for current drawing as per setting. Selected option setting is saved in drawing file.

Once you click OK button to apply overrides then only current view is regenerated. Run REGENALL to redraw all viewports.

Important to know:

App controls definition of how Autodesk® AutoCAD® displays chosen objects.  App does not modify existing objects or add new objects into the drawing file.

For example, if you override Line to be displayed with vertices and open the same file with AutoCAD without this app then Line will be displayed without vertices.

Only data saved in drawing file are settings in VG-Override dialog window. However, if you re-open drawing file then app will turn off Apply option intentionally so you can see drawing without any override first.
