Duplicate annotations with mathematic or alphabetical calculation

General Usage Instructions

DynamicSequence is designed to perform sequent changes to certain content parts (digits or indicated characters) of annotations. It can be a very useful and fast utility while filling indexes in tables. DynamicSequence contains two different parts which focus on different ways to build sequent contents:

DynamicSequence-Numeric can process any type of annotations. If the annotation contents contain no digits, then it will just simply perform a multiple copy action. If the contents contain more than one digit such as “abc123abc456”, the dialog provides the option of applying the calculation to all the digits. In most situations, from our design control concept, always choose the “Process all digit(s)” option and then there is no need to use the [Pick Content <] button to get the content string.  Once an annotation content is indicated by [Pick Content <] button, DynamicSequence-Numeric will analyze and divide the content into a list with pure digits and normal strings. All of them will be shown in the String Breakdown list and then you can choose which one or more digits you want the program to apply calculation to. The list supports multiple-selection by holding the Ctrl key.

The concept to have this is to provide an option control to just process certain digits with indicated properties while leaving other digits unchanged. Otherwise, the program may, every time, calculate every digit and sometimes, that is not what you want.

DynamicSequence-Alphabetical will only perform changes on one single character, so the content is broken down into three parts: Prefix, Changing part (one character long) and Suffix. After setting the starter Character (case sensitive) and step, you will be able to generate the sequent contents.

In order to apply the contents, you need a proto annotation. The program will duplicate the proto object and set the contents accordingly.

Due to the concept limits, DynamicSequence-Alphabetical does not support processing multiple annotations at same time. They need to be done one by one.

Additional Information

Known Issues

DynamicSequence only processes the content, so all MTEXT format will be dropped. In fact, there are so many digits and characters in MTEXT formats control, it is very hard to analyze and avoid all of them.
