General Usage Instructions
Upon issuing the command syntax SM_RULER at the Autodesk® AutoCAD® command-line, the user is prompted to select a 2D/3D curve, to perform measuring and/or marking operations on it.
After the curve is selected, the user will be prompted to select one of four options: distance, offset, divide, and measure.
After the option is selected, the user will be prompted to set a base point and second point (point, which marks the end of the distance or the direction on curve, like in option "offset").
Next, depending of the option, the user is prompted to set an offset length or the number of segments, or the segment length. After calculations and display of the results, the command is not completed and the user is prompted to select one of four options again. To exit the command at any time of its performance the user just has to use any standard AutoCAD method to abort the command.
Distance - the length of the segment between the base point and the second point is printed at the AutoCAD command-line.
Offset - the distance from the base point towards the second point is marked with an AutoCAD point.
Divide - the segment between the base point and the second point is divided to equal parts with AutoCAD points.
Measure - the segment between the base point and the second point is divided to parts of needed length with AutoCAD points. The end of the segment is also marked by a point, regardless of the length of the last part.
