The GILE_INCR command opens the Increment dialog.
In its left part, the dialog provides common controls for all tools.
- The 'Value Type' frame is used to specify the incrementable value type (numeric, alphabetic, alphanumeric, hexadecimal or roman numerals).
- The 'Parameters' frame provides text boxes to set the initial value, the increment value and some optional settings: a separator character, a prefix, a suffix.
- The OK button launches an action according to the selected tab. The action repeats incrementing the value until the user do not Esc, Enter or Space to get out of control.
In its right part, the dialog provides four tabs to specify the settings of each different actions.
- The 'Attribute' tab is used to increment an attribute value at each block insertion. The user selects the block to insert and the attribute to increment, he also can set some block properties (global scale and rotation).
- The 'Text' tab is used to create a text object which value is incremented at each insertion. The user can set some text properties (text style, justification, height and rotation).
- The 'Selection' tab is used to edit existing Text, Mtext or Attribute objects by prefixing, suffixing or replacing them with an incremented value. The user chooses one or more entity types and selects the action to perform.
- The 'Auto' tab allows to automatically increment a selection set of texts, mtexts, or block attributes according to ascending or descending X and Y coordinates.

AMIGO, ESTOY MUY AGRADECIDO CON TU APORTE, POCAS PERSONAS COMO TU EXISTEN QUE BUSCAN LA MANERA DE FACILITAR EL TRABAJO Y AYUDAR A LOS DEMAS SIN PEDIR NADA A CAMBIO. ESTOY MUY AGRADECIDO CONTIGO Y CON TU APORTACIÓN.
Thanks for the contribution, it really is very practical ...!Thanks a lot for this tool.
Congrats, Excellent Tools
Congratulations Gilles. It is a tool claimed by AutoCAD users for years... and you´ve done it!!!!
Thanks a lot!
I will recommend your app on my YouTube Chanel
arqMANES
Easy to use and very flexible. It saves so much time. Thank's for this phantastic tool.
extremely useful! Thx
Just the thing I was searching for. Very simple and efficient. Thank you.
Amazing tool, which really reduces time on my drawings.
One request: can you make it compatible with dimensions?
I really appreciate you making this. Such a time saver. Thank you!
Solid, robust plugin that makes numbering easy as 1,2,3.
Thank you Mr. Gile!
Huge time saver!
quick to install. quick to learn to use. It will increment specifcia attributes within blocks already in the drawing, or drop new blocks in as you go, or just use plain text. Awesome! I love it!
But however I believe im having a strange problem. Everytime I open Autocad. Your plugins keeps adding one more icon into the ribbon. as of now, I have 5 increment plugin shows in my Add-In Ribbon. it keeps increasing each time I restart autocad. :) but app itself working flawlessly! Thank you!
This is what I have been looking for. Works as advertized and is easy to use and quite versatile. O e thing I would like to see added is the ability to do alpha numeric lables that increment the character after a selectable number of digits. for example
A1 A2 etc then when you reach say A48 the A changes to B and the number goes back to 1. Should be able to choose the count before the change in leters.
This would be perfect for my needs
Only thing that would be really nice is to "pad" the numbers with leading 0s.
"Pad to 2 digits" would create 01, 02, 03, ... 10.
"Pad to 3 digits" would create 001, 002, 003 ... 010, 011 etc
You already can do it. Just enter: 01 or 001 as "Start value".
Cet outil est fantastique et permet vraiment une très grande souplesse dans l'incrémentation d'éléments de tout type !
Merci Gilles !
I have been using this for many years and it is by far one of the best Add-ins I have.
It seems 2020 has broken it though. (email sent)
You will have to install the 2020 compatible version which will be published soon.
C'est simple et efficace.
Merci
Hello Gile, best routine for this kind of job I've found. Complex, but still simple to use. Thank you!
One suggestion to consider to add. I would like to have an option to not specify a block name for numbering a selection of blocks - matching just by given an attrubute tag. Or possibly a blok name matching a mask given by wildcards.
TIA for considarition. Thinking of writing something simple by myself, but like the complexity of your routine and think that this might be useful to others as well.
Thanks for this app! It''s very handy and saves a lot of time.
I'd like just to ask you for a small improvement. Can you please remove the limitation of not having any value type selected? Non having a value type defined allows to add constant prefixes ans suffixes to existent content of, for example, an attribute values in a block. Let's say we have thousands of block instances in a drawing with an code value filled in an attribute. And we'd like to add a prefix tag like "ID:" to the existing values. Not having the value type limitation it's easy to add it using Increment, otherwise it's very cumbersome to do it by hand, one by one...
Anyway, great app and thanks for sharing!
You can simply add a prefix (and/or a suffix) in the Prefix (or Suffix) text box.
That's true, but I'm trying to add prefixes/suffixes without using incrementing features. If I disable all the "Value Type" to achieve this, I get an error "None Value Type selected."... No having this limitation, I'd be able to add suffixes/prefixes alone which would be something very handy and helpful! Can you please disable this error message? Thanks
I won't disable the "Value type" checking because this is required for the incrementing process which is the main purpose of this plugin. If you just want to add a prefixes to attribute or text values without incrementing the values, you should search for some routine doing this. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of them on the websites about customizing AutoCAD.
I've been using this for a couple of years and it works well.
