TRIMSPLIT

TRIMSPLIT

Win32 and 64, English

Reinaldo N. Togores
This program introduces two new 3DSolid edition commands: STRIM that subtracts overlaps without deleting the trimming solid, and SSPLIT that creates separate solids out of any overlapping portion.

General Usage Instructions

The STRIM command allows picking a set of 3DSolids as the trimming objects and a selection set of overlapping 3DSolids from which the overlapping portion will be removed without deleting the trimming solid as would be the case if a SUBTRACTION operation was performed.

The SSPLIT tool will create separate 3DSolids wherever the solids overlap. It prompts for a set of overlapping 3DSolids and will create a new separate 3DSolid out of each overlapping portion while subtracting this portion from the original overlapping 3DSolids. The user is prompted for all the objects to split. This selection set is filtered to accept only 3DSolid entities.

SSPLIT

The SSPLIT tool will create separate 3DSolids wherever the solids overlap. It prompts for a set of overlapping 3DSolids and will create a new separate 3DSolid out of each overlapping portion while subtracting this portion from the original overlapping 3DSolids. The user is prompted for all the objects to split. This selection set is filtered to accept only 3DSolid entities. In certain complex overlapping situations it may be necessary to reselect the resulting solids and apply the command again to split all possible overlappings. Subtract operations can result in a single 3D solid that consists of more than one continuous volume, usually called "lumps". SSPLIT checks the resulting solids for this condition, separating these complex solids into independent 3DSolids. In case the object checked is not a complex solid the message "The selected solid does not have multiple lumps" may be printed in the command line.

STRIM

The STRIM command allows picking a set of 3DSolids as the trimming objects and a selection set of overlapping 3DSolids from which the overlapping portion will be removed without deleting the trimming solid as would be the case if a SUBTRACTION operation was performed. STRIM allows for selecting the solids individually or selecting ALL the 3DSolids in the drawing. The ALL option should be used with care in drawings with a great number of 3DSolids as it could overload the system. After selecting the "trimming" solids it will prompt for the 3DSolids to be trimmed.

Installation/Uninstallation

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin. You may need to restart the Autodesk product to activate the app/plug-in.
