comsCountIt!

comsCountIt!

Win32 and 64, English

Massimo Cicognani
Search multiple drawings for blocks or texts, grouping and counting them based on their attributes. Results can both be inserted as a table or exported as XLS workbook. Table tools included.

General Usage Instructions

COMSCOUNTIT shows the main form for CountIt!. The form is divided into three tabs: the first tab allows you to specify the drawing(s) to be searched.

By default, the current drawing is added to the list. If you want to add more drawings, you can just drag & drop drawings into the list or use the 'Add' button.
To remove files from the list, select the files to be removed and press the 'Remove' button on the upper-right corner.

The second tab allows you to set the searching parameters: what to search (blocks, texts and/or lines/polylines), filter out which blocks you need or type of text entities searched and how to group by the entities gathered.
You can simply group by name or by attributes, even if dynamic, but many other attributes are available.

The third tab will perform the search itself and show you a grid with the results.
The grid can be rearranged, sorting, moving and hiding columns, the counts will be adjusted on the fly.

When you are satisfied with the selection, you can either insert a table into the current drawing and/or export the grid into an XLS workbook file.
The XLS is a native Excel 97-2003 format and does not require the actual product to be installed.

Please, refer to the integrated help for an in-depth explanation of the many options available on the form and some typical usage scenarios.

Additional tools are provided to sort tables and merge tables from multiple searches. An additional command will also allow you to paste Excel data into a standard Autodesk® AutoCAD® Table.

COMSCOUNTIT

Shows the main form for CountIt!. The form allows you to specify the drawing(s) to be searched, set the searching and grouping parameters, perform the search, adjust the results and insert them as a table or export to an XLS workbook. Please, refer to the integrated help for an in-depth explanation of the many options available on the form and some typical usage scenarios.

COMSTABLEADD

Merge two tables into one. If a quantity column is detected, it will add-up values of similar rows. Tables must have the same columns number and disposition, otherwise, the command will notify the user and will not operate. Please note that only the first table will be modified, merging the rows from the second table selected. Please pay attention because at every table selection the first table will be immediately modified and there is no warning and/or protection against multiple selections of the same table, resulting in multiple merging and counting.

COMSTABLESORT

Sort AutoCAD table choosing column and direction. The command will try to identify the column type and perform a numeric or character sorting based on the column alignment and contents. Empty rows will not be sorted and will be kept on the end of the table.

COMSTABLEPASTE

This command allows you to paste Excel data directly into the drawing as a native AutoCAD table. Just select the cells you need inside Excel, copy them into the standard Clipboard (just press ctrl-C), switch back to AutoCAD and execute the COMSTABLEPASTE command. NEW! You can paste the content inside an already selected table or even a sub-selection of table cells. If the command is executed without any table selection, the command will start a new table creation, asking for the opposite corners of a rectangle that will holt the result table. The table will be created with the current table format but will be as much as similar to the original Excel data. Currently, COMSTABLEPASTE is able to preserve cell dimension, alignment, format, and merging.
