Area Object Link is a Lisp application that helps you link a Pline or Hatch Area value to a Block Attribute, MText or Text object

General Usage Instructions

Type AOL to start the command.

The first time AOL is executed, a window will appear displaying the current AOL command Settings.

The end user can choose to:

- Link an already drawn Pline or Hatch object's Area value to an already inserted Block Attribute, MText or Text

- Insert a new Block that will include an Attribute value that's linked to a drawn Pline or Hatch object's Area

- Show the Pline or Hatch object Area that is linked to a Block Attribute, MText or Text

A number of options are given such as

  1. Selecting an Insertion Scale factor to bring in the Block Attribute,
  2. Format the Area value including adding a Suffix and rounding the area up or down.

AOLSET command can be used to bring the command Settings window up again to make additional default changes.

The end user should set the AutoCAD® Fieldeval system variable to 31 so that the Area saved as a Field in the Block Attribute or Text will automatically update.

Also as stated in AutoCAD's help file on Fieldeval, a Regen is required for the Area value to automatically update and be shown on the screen.
