General Usage Instructions

Click the AutoRebar icon button to load the plugin and visualize dynamic AutoRebar objects.

Create your drawing using dynamic AutoRebar objects.

Use the BBS command to generate the Bar Bending Schedule.

Use either the EXPLODESEL command or the EXPLODEALL command to explode your dynamic AutoRebar objects into standard Autodesk® AutoCAD® objects and distribute your drawing to other users with no need to install AutoRebar on their computers.


Ribbon/Toolbar Icon Command Command Description


Explode the selected AutoRebar objects into standard AutoCAD entities. AutoCAD blocks and polylines included in the selection remain untouched.


Remove a section from an existing Rebar. Select the section of the Rebar you want to cut.


Explode all the AutoRebar entities present in the drawing into standard AutoCAD entities. This is useful to distribute your drawing to users who don't have AutoRebar installed on their computers. User defined blocks are not affected by the command. You will be prompted to save a backup copy of the drawing containing the original dynamic AutoRebar entities.


Insert a new sectioned bar. Specify the diameter and the insertion point.


Quick draw command for a crosstie shaped Rebar. Specify the diameter of the crosstie, the diameters of the two bars which are hooked by the crosstie and their center points.


Insert a dynamic linear array of sectioned bars. Specify the diameter, the bar spacing or the number of bars, the start point and the end point. When stretched, the array of sectioned bars reacts in the following way: - if it's been defined by SPACING, the number of sectioned bars changes to preserve the same spacing. - if it's been defined by NUMBER OF BARS, the bar spacing is adjusted to keep the number of bars unchanged.


Convert a polyline into a Rebar. Select the polyline and specify the diameter.


Assign a new Mark number to the selected Rebar. Marks are always taken into account by AutoRebar when preparing the Bar Bending Schedule. Select the Rebar to be linked and specify the insertion points. A Mark can be assigned to a group of bars whose geometry is linearly variable in the structure: 1. select one Rebar first (for instance, this might be the shortest bar in the group of variable bars); 2. type V for the VARIABLE option; 3. select the second Rebar (for instance, this might be the longest bar in the group of variable bars); 4. specify the insertion points.


Calls can be useful to create annotations dynamically linked to Marks. Calls are not considered by AutoRebar for scheduling. When a mark is modified (directly or indirectly by modifying a Rebar) Calls gets updated on the fly.


Quick draw command for a chair shaped Rebar. Specify the diameter, the feet length, the body height, the body width and the insertion point.


Insert a new dynamic Rebar. The command behaves similarly to the standard Polyline command. Just specify the diameter and follow the options at the command line. Arcs and hooks and custom bends are also possible to shape a Rebar with virtually any geometry.


Quick draw command for a stirrup shaped Rebar. Specify the diameter, the concrete cover, and the two opposite corners of the rectangular concrete section.


AutoRebar Options dialogue box. Define units, digits, annotation scale, bending radius, font, display options and more.


Edit the annotation scale of AutoRebar entities in multiple selections. This affects the annotations in the object such as texts or symbols, not the dimension of the object itself. Select the AutoRebar entities and enter the new value of the new scale.


Edit AutoRebar entities. Select the autorebar object you want to edit and click the command to access the edit form. This command is also triggered by a DOUBLE-CLICK action on any AutoRebar object.


Switch ON the AutoRebar engine to create or visualize dynamic objects.


Append a straight section to an existing Rebar. Select the Rebar you want to append the section to, and specify the new vertex point.


Generate or update a Bar Bending Schedule taking into account all the Marks present in the current drawing. Simply specify the insertion point.


Export to Excel the content of the current quantity take-off.


The installer that ran when you downloaded this plug-in from Autodesk App Store has already installed the plug-in. You may need to restart the Autodesk product to activate the plug-in. To uninstall this plug-in, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Windows 7/8/8.1/10) or Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Windows XP), and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.
