Break entities into different pieces based on different options. (e.g. specified points, intersection, specified distance, and equal parts).

General Usage Instructions

Whenever you want to break an entity into pieces for any reason (e.g. assign different properties for each piece), this tool can help you, by providing multiple options to break an object like divide, measure, intersection, and specified points. The tool will allow you to do this quickly and efficiently. 

The plug-in contains four commands as follows:

Break At Points:

Breaks entities based on specified points. The following prompts are displayed:

  • Select objects to break - Select the set of entities you want to break, you can break the following entities:

Line, Polyline, Xline, Ray, Arc, Circle, Ellipse, and Spline.

  • Specify a breaking point - Specify a point on one of the selected entities, the entity will be broken on this point. Once selected, you will be asked to select the next breaking point.

 Please note that a closed object (e.g. circle) requires at least two breaking points. Done After specifying all breaking points, select done to execute the command. Undo Remove the most recent breaking points.

 

Break At Object:

Breaks entities based on their intersections with other objects. The following prompts are displayed:

  • Select objects to break - Select the set of entities you want to break, you can break the following entities:

Line, Polyline, Xline, Ray, Arc, Circle, Ellipse, and Spline.

  • Select cutting objects - This set of objects will work as cutting edges for the previously selected objects, this set might include a line, Polyline, Xline, Ray, Arc, Circle, Ellipse, Spline, and Point.

 

Enhanced Divide:

Unlike the standard divide command, this will break the object instead of placing reference points at evenly spaced distances. The following prompts are displayed. Select the object to break: Select an entity to evenly divide it. Enter the number of segments: Specify the number of parts to divide the entity.

Enhanced measure: 

Unlike the standard measure command, this will break the object instead of placing reference points at a specified distance. The following prompts are displayed. Select the object to measure: Select an entity to break at a specified distance. Specify the length of the segment: Specify the length of the braking distance.

Installation/Uninstallation

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from the Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin. You may need to restart the Autodesk product to activate the app/plug-in. To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button. OR, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Windows 7/8.1/10/11) and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.
