Overview

Power Search is a web-based application that enhances Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) by enabling users to perform advanced multi-criteria file searches, export results to Excel, and bulk-edit metadata such as Description and custom attributes. It is ideal for document controllers, BIM coordinators, QA/QC teams, and project managers who manage large volumes of files.

1. Administrator Setup (One-Time Authorisation)

Before any user can access Power Search, the ACC Account Administrator must authorise the app:

1.           Go to Account Admin

2.           Click on Apps

3.           Search for “Power Search”

4.           Click Install to authorize

 2. User Access & Login

Once the app is authorised:

•             Users go to https://power.blacksmithsoft.com

•             Click Sign in with Autodesk for free trial.

•             Approve access via Autodesk’s OAuth (you’ll be redirected back after allowing access)

•             No separate registration or password is required—your Autodesk ID is your login

3. Using Power Search

Search Workflow

•             After login, select a project and folder from the left-side navigation panel

•             On the right, enter your desired search criteria (e.g. file name, type, version, date, Description, custom attributes)

•             Click Search

•             View results in the bottom panel; click any file to open it directly in ACC or download it

•             Export results to Excel by clicking Download result as XLS

Metadata Editing Workflow (Editor Mode)

•             Toggle to Editor Mode

•             Perform a search and export results to Excel

•             In Excel, modify metadata fields like Description or custom attributes

•             Reupload the edited Excel file

•             Power Search detects changes and pushes updates to ACC metadata
