What is a Data Exchange?
A Data Exchange represents the data of a geometrical model stored in a neutral format on a cloud system. It allows you to access the model data either as a whole or at a granular level. You can use the Data Exchange to build interoperable workflows spanning across organizations, applications, and systems to share the right data with the right stakeholders in the right context. A centralized and secure data on the web enables users to have control over the accessibility and consumption of data across various applications and users in the format of their choice. It also facilitates continuous validation and versioning of the model data.
In a sample business scenario, let us assume two users, using Rhino and Inventor applications, are using the same data of a geometrical model that is associated with a Data Exchange from the cloud. When the author of the model makes changes to the Data Exchange, the updates are propagated to the downstream users and both Rhino and Inventor users can update their data by receiving only the changes. Updating only the delta changes reduces latency compared to the traditional file-based workflows, where the entire file is transferred between Desktop systems.
Prerequisites
Download the Rhino 7 Desktop app from the official site.
Download the “Data Exchange - Rhino Connector” from Public Site.
You must install Revit 2023.0.2 or later to integrate and use Revit Connector. Monitor the latest Revit code fixes and versions for updates.
The Rhino user must have an Autodesk Construction Cloud® (or trial) License to access the Autodesk Docs projects on ACC. Ensure that you are signed into ACC using your Autodesk credentials to launch the Rhino application.
Important: Data Exchanges are currently supported only for the US-based hubs and projects.

Installation/Uninstallation
Install
- This section explains how to install the “Data Exchange – Rhino Connector” on your computer. Ensure that you read the Prerequisites section before installing the Connector.
- Double-click the downloaded “Data Exchange - Rhino Connector.exe” installer package.
- The installation setup wizard screen appears. Click Next.
- Click Install to confirm Installation.
- After successful installation, click Finish to exit.
- To Enable the Rhino Connector, the account administrator must install the Data Exchange - Rhino Connector app from the App gallery to your Autodesk Docs.
- If you are an Account Administrator, click Account Admin from the picker.
- Click the Apps tool.
- Select the Data Exchange - Rhino Connector app.
- Click Install to enable Data Exchange - Rhino Connector.
- Click Authorize and Install to complete the installation. The Data Exchange - Rhino Connector app will now display as Activated.

A few points to note:
- In order to leverage the power of Revit Connector, make sure you install the 2023.0.2 or a later version of the Revit software.
- Install Rhino 7 when testing the Rhino connector.
- Ensure you have access to data exchanges in your Autodesk Construction Cloud project.
