General Usage Instructions
Use the drawing provided containing example Revision Tables and Title block to insert into your existing company templates.
Create a Sheet Set as you currently do - RevControl will add the required custom properties, which are:
Rev1 Num, Rev 1 Desc, Rev 1 By, Rev 1 Date, Revision, Sheet No, Sheet Total.
Revision Control - Buttons
Revision Control is best used in conjunction with the Sheet Set Manager.
RevControl adds some functionality to the SSM but is not a substitute for it.
The Load button will load the Sheet Set currently open in the Sheet Set Manager into Revision Control, or choose a Sheet Set to open.
Only one Sheet Set can be loaded into RevControl.
If the Sheet Set does not contain the custom properties required by RevControl, it will create them.
A list of sheets will be shown in the Revision Control Palette, with a check box next to each.
Close and Unload the Sheet Set
Use the check boxes to select sheets from the list or press the Select All button to select them all.
Press the None button to deselect all sheets.
Press the Number button to number the selected sheets, and a form will appear showing a suggested start number and total.
These values will populate the Sheet Number and Sheet Total custom properties for each of the selected sheets.
Any numbers can be used for these properties – press Apply to see the results and Done to exit.
The list in the RevControl window will update to show the changes.
Note that to run the Numbering function there must only be one Sheet Set open in the Sheet Set Manager.
The Edit button enables a global edit on any sheet custom property on all selected sheets.
Select the custom property name from the pull-down list and enter the new value in the text box.
Note that the default new value is a blank character (Alt + 160). This is set by default because it does not print.
Regen the drawing to see the results.
The Revisions button enables editing of all the revision values of a single sheet or increment of the current revision values on all selected sheets.
Multiple Sheet revisions
When multiple sheets are selected the current revision value for each sheet will increment to the next letter or number and add the entered values for the description, approver and date properties.
Choose the revision type – see below for information on the Brackets option. Choose the revision description from the default list or type a new one.
Edit the default description list and total revision quantity in the settings file. Click the down arrow next to the date to select from the calendar or type a value.
Click OK and the list will be updated in the RevControl window and the table in the drawing will be updated.
Single Sheet Revisions
When a single sheet is selected a form showing all the revisions for that sheet is displayed. This enables full control of the revision table for the selected sheet.
Use the Edit Row functions on the right to clear, insert and delete rows. 8 revision lines are available by default, but this can be changed in the settings file.
Clear the values of the custom properties for revisions in the selected sheets. A warning will be given before the reset is made. Note there is no Undo for Sheet Set edits.
Remove the last revision for the selected sheets. A warning will be given before the change is made. Note that there is no Undo for Sheet Set edits.
Place brackets on the latest revision of the selected sheets. This option is also available when using the revision function on multiple sheets.
Brackets can be used to signify that the revision has been made but has not been sent out.
When the Sheet Set is ready to be printed and sent out use the Remove button to remove the brackets on the selected sheets.
Create a drawing list table from the selected sheets in current Table Style. Note that this is not data linked as per the Sheet Set Manager List Table.
Note: Alternatively, if you use the standard Sheet List Table from the Sheet Set Manager, you can still use the RevControl Revision custom property to show the latest revision for each sheet. This can avoid an issue with the standard Drawing Revision Number field.
The settings file enables you to set the quantity of revision rows, the date format, default lists for descriptions and approvers.
It is read when the Sheet Set is loaded, so press the Load button after editing it to set the new values.
Opens the sample drawing containing a titleblock with an example revision table with fields linked to the custom sheet set properties.
Opens the supplied help file.
