General Usage Instructions

GUIDE TO GETTING STARTED WITH TTC SUITE

1. Installation and Evaluation: Run the provided MSI installer. Once completed, launch Civil 3D. The suite will automatically load a specialized "TTC" tab in your Ribbon interface. Note: Upon first launch, you will begin a full 30-day free trial period. This allows you to test all 15 commands in your real-world engineering environment before the $3.99 monthly subscription begins.

2. Critical System Configuration: To ensure that labels for 3D areas, lengths, and point descriptions display international characters and accents correctly (Unicode support), you must set the AutoCAD system variable LISPSYS to 1 or 2 and restart the application.

3. Working with Surfaces (AREA3D & SLOPE): To analyze multiple surfaces, type TTC_SURFACE-AREA3D. Select the target surfaces from the screen. The program will automatically calculate 3D statistics and place a text label at each centroid. For grading, use TTC_POLY-SLOPE; select your base polyline, define cut/fill ratios, and select the target surface to generate your daylight lines. Note: Slope calculations are vertex-based for maximum geometric control.

4. Point Cloud Processing (PERIMETER): When working with large survey datasets, type TTC_POLY-PERIMETER. Select the COGO point group. Choose your algorithm strictness (Strict/Standard/Loose) to extract the concave boundary using the Double Walker algorithm. This tool is optimized for clusters of up to 2,000 points per operation to ensure stability.

5. Topology Cleaning & Philosophy: All tools follow our "Surgical Cleaning" protocol: they process data locally, operate 100% offline, and do not leave redundant or "junk" objects in your drawing. Use TTC_POLY-UNION to fuse overlapping polylines or TTC_POLY-DELSEG for the surgical removal of line segments by picking two vertices.

6. Uninstallation Procedures: To uninstall this plug-in, simply rerun the installer or use Control Panel → Programs → Programs and Features, just as you would uninstall any other application from your system. Please restart Civil 3D after uninstallation to ensure all components are properly cleared from the system.

Spatial Exclusion Filter: Isolate or bulk-delete COGO points located inside or outside selected boundary polylines.

TTC_POLY-POINT-ORDER

Sequential Polyline Connector: Automates path drawing by connecting COGO points in numerical order with description filters.

TTC_POLY-2DTO3D

Smart Polyline Conversion: Transforms 2D polylines to 3D by retrieving elevations from the nearest COGO points for each vertex.

TTC_POLY-DENSIFY

Geometry Resampling: Increases polyline resolution by inserting vertices at fixed intervals to better follow terrain.

TTC_POLY-LONG

Batch Polyline Labeler: Annotates 2D/3D lengths for multiple polylines and reports the Grand Total Sum in the command history.

TTC_POLY-DELSEG

Surgical Segment Removal: Removes specific segments of a polyline between two selected vertices while maintaining object integrity.

TTC_POLY-UNION

Topological Merger: Fuses polylines that touch, overlap, or share vertices into a single continuous entity, eliminating internal segments.

TTC_POLY-ON-SURFACE

Vertex Elevation Projector: Drapes polyline vertices onto a target surface with exact XY-Z matching and optional offsets.

TTC_POLY-OFFSLOPE

Fixed Parameter Grading: Projects a 3D offset from a base polyline using distance and slope ratios, independent of a surface.

TTC_POLY-PERIMETER

Concave Boundary Extraction: Generates a precise boundary polyline from COGO point clouds using the Double Walker algorithm.

TTC_SURFACE-AREA3D

Bulk Surface Analyzer: Calculates true 3D area and perimeters for multiple TIN surfaces, automatically placing text labels and generating CSV reports.

TTC_POLY-SLOPE

Precision Grading Projector: Generates daylight lines by projecting cut/fill slopes from a base polyline onto a target surface.

TTC_SURFACE-SLOPE

Surface-to-Surface Projection: Generates daylight lines by projecting slopes from a surface boundary onto a target terrain.

Installation/Uninstallation

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin. 

You may need to restart the Autodesk product to activate the app/plug-in. To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the

"Uninstall" button. OR, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Windows 10/11) and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.

All engineering calculations operate 100% offline; no internet connection is required for core functionality."

Known Issues

  • Grading: Calculated strictly at polyline vertices, not continuously. Use TTC_POLY-DENSIFY before projecting for smoother results on irregular terrain. Sharp corners may require manual trimming.
  • 2D to 3D: Accuracy depends on point proximity. Distant vertices inherit elevation from the nearest COGO point, which may vary from the intended design.
  • Surfaces: Analysis time increases significantly above 1M triangles. Labels are placed at the centroid; irregular shapes (U/L) may require manual repositioning.
  • Projections: Supports a single outer boundary only. Disconnected regions (multiple islands) or internal voids (holes) are not supported.
  • Perimeters: Optimized for clusters up to 2,000 points. Accuracy relies on uniform point distribution.
  • Unicode: Set the AutoCAD variable LISPSYS to 1 or 2 to ensure correct label rendering and avoid "???" characters.
