GeoDin Ground
GeoDin® Ground is a plugin developed by GeoDin® for civil and design engineers to see below the ground in Autodesk® Civil 3D®.

General Usage Instructions

Manage Data Sources

Click Manage Data Sources to select a GeoDin® database. A sample database is available for convenience.

Open the Location Selector

Click Select Data on the ribbon to open the Location Selector. Here you can:

  • Choose your data source (database)
  • Select a project within the database
  • Pick the boreholes you want to draw in Civil 3D

Show Documents

In the Location Selector, view documents attached to boreholes by clicking the Documents icon next to a borehole.

Select Boreholes

Use the filtering options in the Location Selector to choose the boreholes relevant to your project.

Draw Boreholes

After making your selection, click Save Data to Drawing to insert boreholes into your Civil 3D drawing.

Close the Location Selector

Once boreholes are drawn, you can close the Location Selector.

Draw Surfaces and Volumes

Click Draw Surfaces and Volumes on the ribbon to generate surfaces and volumes from selected boreholes.

  • Click the button again to select a new subset of boreholes and create additional surfaces and volumes.
  • Use Delete All Surfaces & Volumes to remove all generated surfaces and volumes.

Create Virtual Logs

You can create virtual logs to refine your model. Three options are available:

  • Empty Virtual Log: Start from scratch without predefined layers.
  • Based on Nearest Borehole: Use lithological layers from the nearest borehole as a base.
  • Based on Surfaces: Place the virtual log on existing surfaces and volumes. Layers are created based on intersections with these surfaces.

Refresh

Click Refresh to update solids and surfaces. The latest selection will be refreshed, including any added virtual logs.

Additional Information

Algorithm refined for better stability and performance.
Virtual log creation improved with more precise decimal handling.
Added metadata support for enhanced data organization.
Location selector simplified for easier use.
Ribbon layout adjusted for a cleaner and more consistent experience.

Known Issues

In cases of very complex lithology, modeling may produce inaccurate results.
