Civil3D Profile Launcher
Win64, EnglishGeneral Usage Instructions
This application is integrated with the WA Subscription system. Users are required to authenticate before accessing the tool. The authentication remains valid for the same day, and users must complete the authentication process once each day upon their first launch.
The application can be started with the Civil3DLauncher.exe executable from the installation directory (C:\Program Files\Civil 3D 2021 Launcher by default) of the application or with the Civil 3D 2021 Launcher desktop shortcut. After starting the application, the Launcher window appears.
Window, you can see all the launchable content kit profiles you have installed before. After the first launch, you can only see the default Civil 3D profiles that are available in your installed Civil 3D version. If you would like to use Civil 3D with one of its default profiles, select the profile in the list and click on the Launch button. Now Civil 3D starts with its selected default profile. The Launcher application automatically closes after starting Civil 3D.
Installing and uninstalling kits
If you would like to use custom-made content kits and profiles in Civil 3D, you must install them first. You can see the installable content kits by clicking on the Modify Kits button on the Launcher window. After that, the Modify Kits window appears.
The Modify Kits window contains all the available kits in the local content directory. In this window, you can see the checkboxes of the already installed kits checked, and the checkboxes of the available but not yet installed kits unchecked. To install or uninstall a kit, just check, or uncheck its checkbox, then click on the Apply changes button.
Because of the hierarchy of Company kits and Project kits, if you check the checkbox of a Project kit’s checkbox, its parent Company kit will be checked automatically. If you uncheck the checkbox of a Company, its child Project kits will be unchecked automatically too.
You can check or uncheck all the content kits with the Check/Uncheck all checkbox.
If you would not like to install or uninstall any more kits, you can go back to the Launcher window with the Back button.

Additional Information
Directory structure
The directory structure of a content kit is the following:
|— Sample kit
|— Content
||— 01_AECCContent_Dir
|||— …
||— 02_UserRoamable
|||— …
||— 03_UserLocal
|||— …
||— 04_DataDir
|||— …
||— 06_ProjTemplateDir
|||— …
|— Config.xml
|— Changelog.docx
Uploading the kit to BIM 360
- Create a zip archive inside the content kit, directly from the files and give the zip archive the same name as the name of the kit. In this case, WSP Sample.zip
Note: Make sure, the zip archive contains the files of the new kit directly, and looks like the following:
|— WSP Sample.zip
|— Content
||— …
|— Config.xml
|— Changelog.docx
Upload the zip archive into BIM 360 (probably into a specific project), into the Contents2020 folder.
Note: The Contents 2020 folder must be a root folder inside Project Files.
1. Launching a kit
You can launch Civil 3D with a kit on the Launcher window by selecting the kit in the list and clicking on the Launch button.
If the selected kit is up-to-date, Civil 3D starts right after clicking the Launch button, with the profile of the selected kit.
If the selected kit is not up-to-date, a notification message appears about the update and a question appears whether you would like to open the changelog of the update now. If you click on the Yes button, the changelog of the kit opens, and Civil 3D starts with the updated content. If you click on the No button, Civil 3D starts with the updated content without opening the changelog.
2. Requesting new content
You can request new content for a kit directly from its creator by right-clicking on a content kit in the Launcher window and clicking on the Request new content button in the appearing context menu. After that, your default email client application will open with filled-in To and Subject fields.

Support Information
Autodesk Desktop Connector
- Autodesk Desktop Connector synchronizes the content packs from BIM 360 Document Management to a local BIM 360 drive. Autodesk Desktop Connector must be installed, and the content kits must be synchronized properly for the Civil 3D Launcher application to work.
Correctly scheduled synchronization batch file
- The Civil 3D Launcher installer package installs the BIM360toLocal_2021.bat batch file to the client machine, which is also scheduled to run periodically by the Windows Task Scheduler. This batch file periodically copies the synchronized content kits from the local BIM 360 drive into the C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Civil 3D Content Manager folder in a structure that is processable by the Civil 3D Launcher application.
- The BIM 360 to Local 2021 task is automatically scheduled by the installer package to run every day between 10 a.m. and 12 a.m., but this can be changed if necessary.
BIM360DIR environment variable
- The path to approved content inside the local BIM 360 drive varies from user to user. Because of this, the BIM360toLocal_2021.bat batch file (see 4.2) needs to use an environment variable called BIM360DIR that stores the path of the approved contents. The optimal way to set the BIM360DIR environment variable is by the SCCM deployment process, but it can be added and set in the Windows Control Panel manually.
