The Add-In is a connector between Autodesk® Fusion® and Markforged’s EigerTM software (https://www.eiger.io)

General Usage Instructions

  • Run Fusion
  • Open an existing Design or Create a new Component in the "Design" Workspace

At this point, you have two options:

Option 1: Upload your models directly to Eiger to print on Markforged 3D printers (Desktop series, Industrial series, Metal X, FX10 and FX20)

Option 2: Create an Additive setup in the MANUFACTURE workspace of Fusion for the Markforged Metal Binder Jetting System, the PX100, to complete your print preparation steps and generate a CLI file.

To upload your models to Eiger using this app;

  • Click the “Upload to Markforged Eiger” button in the "SOLID" tab located in the "MARKFORGED" panel of the DESIGN Workspace. This action will open a new dialog where you will be able to type in the “API Access Key” and the “API Secret Key” associated with your EIGER Account. To learn more about how to get these keys please visit the EIGER API help pages (https://support.markforged.com/portal/s/article/Eiger-API). "MARKFORGED" panel is available in the following tabs within the DESIGN workspace:

    • SOLID
    • MESH
    • PLASTIC
    • UTILITIES

  • Once you enter your Access Key and Secret Key, you can select the “Save credentials” checkbox so that Fusion remembers your login information, which will make it easier for you to login to your account in the future. You can also clear the saved credentials if you wish Fusion to delete your login information altogether.

  • Select LOGIN

  • Select a USER from the drop-down list. Models uploaded via Fusion will be associated with your user selection, giving that user access to manage, edit and delete the uploaded file in EIGER.

  • Select a MODEL. You can select either a component, solid body, or a mesh body.

    • If you select a mesh body, or a component that only contains a mesh body, you can select UPLOAD MODEL.

    • If you select a solid body or a component that contains a solid body, Fusion will tessellate the solid body before uploading it to EIGER. You will have the option to control the tessellation by selecting the meshing quality. You will also have the option to customize the individual meshing controls if desired.

  • Select UPLOAD MODEL to upload your selected Fusion model to EIGER.

  • After a successful upload, you can select the “Launch Markforged Eiger” button and you will find your newly uploaded model within the Library and Parts / My Parts sections.

  • At this point, you can proceed to use EIGER to slice and print your parts as usual.
