Description

This add-in will enable you to export a Bill of Materials of a design as a CSV (.csv) file in a very simple and efficient way.

The Bill of Materials is generated from the components within a design. You can quickly export the bill of materials using the right-click context menu that will save a CSV file to a user-specified location.

The right-click context menu also has a "Settings" command with the following options:

  • Set the default BOM creation method (Grouped By Component, Grouped By Part Name, Grouped By Bodies or Indented)
  • Set the CSV file delimiter character.
  • Include or exclude a BOM column.
  • Change the BOM column order.

Super simple. Straight forward. Create BOM using bodies instead of forcing components. When building out a deck design, no other option i tried worked. Built in fusion option is terrible. This one allowed output of the bodies, count, name and the lengths and widths. Super time saving. Wished I tried it first. Worth $10. Saves a ton of time.

  • Nice tool

I use it for exporting a CSV and import to MaxCut. Easy and very useful.

  • Does what it says, but not as useful as hoped

Thus far, the simplest and least expensive automated BOM generation tool that I have found (aside from just doing it myself in Excel).

However, in its current form, it doesn't mesh with my typical workflow.  For example, while designing a flip-top tool cart, I have three components for different parts of the build (e.g., outer panels, rotating top, and shelves), each of which has multiple bodies within it.  Unfortunately, regardless of whether I select "By Component" or "By Part Name," this tool generates exactly one entry for each component in the build, and completely ignores every single one of the bodies within each component.

Basically, as currently built, it seems each and every piece of my design would need to be it's own component.  Would really like to see this tool able to generate a BOM by bodies...

As a woodworking hobbyist/enthusiast, I find this the simplest and easiest way to generate a parts list input for a cutlist program.
