Copy Assistant works on the documents you have in Autodesk® Inventor®.

1. Open the part or assembly you want to copy. Keep its drawing (.idw or .dwg) in the same folder as the model, so Copy Assistant can find it.
2. Start Copy Assistant from the Inventor ribbon. The active document is pre-selected; select a different document if you want to copy another one.
3. Choose the destination: the source document's folder (the default) or a different location for the new files.
4. Choose whether to copy the drawing. Copy Assistant searches the source folder for the matching .idw or .dwg drawing and copies it alongside the model when you ask it to.
5. Run it. The copy is written to the destination; your original files are not changed.

Replacing a component: when you need a variant of a component in an assembly, make the copy with Copy Assistant, change the copy, and replace the component in the assembly. The original part and its drawing stay as they were.

Typical uses

• Start a new design from an existing part or assembly without re-creating its drawing.
• Create a customer- or project-specific variant while the released original stays untouched.
• Prepare a modified component before swapping it into an assembly.

Tips

• One document is copied per run; repeat it for further documents.
• Both drawing formats are supported: .idw and .dwg.
• Copy Assistant is free: there is nothing to activate and no trial to run out.
• To pause it, uncheck it in the Inventor Add-In Manager.

Works with Autodesk® Inventor® 2020 to 2027 on Windows 64-bit.

Close Autodesk Inventor, then run the downloaded installer. It installs the BLUE MECH Axion framework together with Copy Assistant; the next time Inventor starts, Copy Assistant is on the ribbon. If you already use other BLUE MECH Axion add-ins, they share the same framework.

You can unload the add-in without uninstalling it by unchecking "Loaded/Unloaded" in the Inventor Add-In Manager (restart Inventor to unload it completely).

To uninstall, close Inventor and remove Axion in Windows Settings > Apps (or Control Panel > Programs and Features).
