Selection Priority, Transparency, BOM Structure

Selection Priority, Transparency, BOM Structure

Win64, English

Arsenii Yavtushenko
Additional command set that adds Transparency, BOM Structure and Priority Commands, as well as makes some of the more frequently used functions to the same ribbon panel, making them more accessible.

General Usage Instructions

This add-in introduces three brand-new buttons:

Priority: Toggles between Part and Assembly Selection Priority as most frequently used Priority selections (can be adjusted, depending on specific needs). To use, simply click on the button and that will change current Selection Priority.

BOM Structure: Additional menu that allows users to change or check the active Part or Assembly properties, such as Part Number, BOM Structure or Units. To use, click on the ribbon button. That will launch a form, where you can change the file's Part Number, BOM Structure, Angle, Length and Mass units. It can also save current properties' selection as default using an appropriate button to the right of the Units' properties. Useful to assign a desired batch of mentioned properties when working with an exported component instantly.

Transparency: Make selected part or assembly transparent. The command creates the "CLEAR" View Representation. View Name and creation of additional View can be changed in the Options Menu, which can be launched with the button in ribbon's slide-out panel.

A newly created panel also contains some common Autodesk® Inventor® buttons to provide easier access to them.

Commands

Ribbon/Toolbar Icon Command Command Description

Transparency

This command makes the selected part or assembly transparent. In case of a Part - If the part is an active document, the user just needs to press the button for it to become transparent. There are also a couple of options regarding the View Representation: the end user can choose whether to create a new View Representation, and the user can select the name for a new Representation. If such already exists, the command will override it. In case of an Assembly - if the assembly is currently active, there are two options: the end user can select desired parts first (multiple parts at once can be selected) and then press the button for them to become transparent. The second option is to press the button first, and then select the desired object. There is no option to create a View Representation in the assembly, because it had proven itself to be difficult to use (let me know if you have any ideas about it).

Priority

This command toggles between Part and Component Priority in one click. Let me know if you need any other choices, like Body Priority, Feature Priority, etc.

BOM Structure

This command can change Part Number, BOM Structure, and Angle, Length, Mass Units to predefined parameters. Part Number field is always filled with the object's File Name, which makes this add-in quite useful when managing imported, renamed or otherwise questionable files. Current BOM Structure, Angle, Length and Mass selections can be saved for future use.

Presentation

This command switches the background color and clears the screen from ribbon panel and assembly tree. Use the command again to return to original state. Background color and clear screen options are available in Options.
