linkParameters allows Autodesk® Inventor® users to easily create dependencies between parameters in various parts and sub-assemblies in the context of the top-level assembly within which they reside.

General Usage Instructions

First of all you will need to specify the name of the iLogic rule which will be created in the background. This first dialog also provides you the ability to select an existing rule if any. In that case the new iLogic code will be appended to the existing rule’s code. Validating this dialog will display the main dialog of the tool. Using the controls on that dialog, you will be able to select source and target components. Notice that the top-level assembly can also be used as source by checking the upper-left check-box.

The mapping between source and target parameters is done by drag-n-dropping the parameters from source to target list view. By right-clicking the target mappings, they can also be suppressed through a context menu. An option to automatically map source and target parameters with the same name is also provided from this context menu.

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin.

You can unload the plugin without uninstalling it by unchecking the "Loaded/Unloaded" check box associated with the plugin in the Autodesk® Inventor® Add-In Manager. You may have to restart Inventor to completely unload the application.

To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button. OR, you can uninstall it from 'Control Panel/Programs and Features' (Windows 7/8.1/10), just as you would uninstall any other application from your system.

Additional Information

Known Issues

If I change the source parameter the target file does not update. Is this possible?

linkParameters is using iLogic. The iLogic rule that is created from linkParameters is not triggered automatically. But you can trigger it from the iLogic menu. Either call the command "Run Rule" from the iLogic Browser or the command "regenerate all Rules.

Another option is to trigger the rule on an event. Therefore call the command "Event Triggers" from the iLogic menu. In the dialog 'Rules Triggered by Events' select the event and the rule that is triggered from this event.
