Static Equipment Generator (SEG)
Win64, EnglishGeneral Usage Instructions
Getting Started with SEG
When starting a new project in SEG, it is crucial to select the appropriate model (equipment type) to ensure access to all relevant features. If your project involves multiple equipment types, such as a vessel and a heat exchanger, it is recommended to select the Overall Module. This selection provides access to both the pressure vessel and heat exchanger features, allowing for comprehensive design capabilities.
The available modules in SEG are as follows:
Overall: A comprehensive module providing access to all SEG features, suitable for projects that include multiple equipment types.
H-Pressure Vessel: Designed for horizontal pressure vessels.
V-Pressure Vessel: Designed for vertical pressure vessels.
Heat Exchanger: Tailored for designing heat exchangers.
Tank: Focused on storage tanks with fixed roofs.
Spherical Tank: Specialized for spherical tank designs.
Duct: Ideal for designing ducts.
Piping: Supports equipment piping and slug catcher equipment.
By selecting the appropriate module, users can streamline their workflow and ensure that all necessary tools and features are readily available for their specific project requirements.
After installing SEG and activating your license, you are ready to start using the software. Follow the steps below to get started:
Locate SEG: Open the software from the desktop shortcut or the Start menu.
Create a New Project: Click New to begin creating a new project.
Project Module: Select the desired project module, specify the file path on your machine, and click Finish to generate the project files in the selected directory.
Initial Screen: Once launched, the software will display the main interface, allowing you to begin working on your static equipment designs.
The SEG (Static Equipment Generator) User Interface (UI) is designed to provide an efficient and organized workspace. It is divided into five key areas, each serving a specific purpose in the static equipment design process:
1. Main Tabs Area
o Location: Top of the UI
o Function: Used to manage project data and generate items.
2. Tree View
o Location: Left side of the UI
o Function: Displays the project content, including equipment and items associated with each piece of equipment.
3. Main Area
o Location: Center of the UI
o Function: Displays project or vessel design data, as well as item-specific information. Selecting a node in the tree view will display the corresponding details here.
4. License Period
o Location: Bottom of the UI
o Function: Shows the remaining validity of your software license.
5. Toolbox
o Location: Right side of the UI
o Function: Provides tools for adding items to your equipment, such as main components and guides.
Position:
Users can select the desired position for the equipment, including Horizontal, Vertical, or Tilted. Additionally, for horizontal or tilted positions, users can adjust the assembly's direction (datum line) from left to right or right to left. For vertical positions, users can choose the direction as top to bottom or bottom to top.
Units:
Within the same form, users can select their preferred units for data entry, either millimetres (mm) or inches (in).
Details:
Users can edit key equipment details, including Service, Tag Number, and Serial Number.
Delivered Plate Data:
Users can define the dimensions of the plates that will be utilized during fabrication.
Delivered Pipe Data:
Users can specify the dimensions of the pipes that will be used during fabrication.
4. Adding Components to Your Project
SEG simplifies the process of adding data to the Tree View. Follow these steps to add main or child elements:
Using the Elements Tab:
Select the desired Equipment Node from the Tree View, navigate to the Elements Tab, and begin adding Main or Child Elements.
Using the Toolbox:
Alternatively, select the desired Equipment Node from the Tree View, then use the Toolbox to add Main or Child Elements.
SEG allows users to easily modify the details of each Node, after selecting any node from the Tree View, the data of this element will appear in the Main Area, and the user can edit it and click save.
It’s always a good idea to save your work regularly:
Step 1: Click File > Save to save your project for the first time.
Step 2: After saving, click File > Save to save any subsequent changes.
