View Reference Add-in for Autodesk® Inventor® creates drawing sheet references between parent and dependent-view callouts and labels.

General Usage Instructions

The View Reference Panel is added to the Placed Views tab in the Drawing Environment Ribbon. The panel contains three buttons Create/Update, Remove, and Configure.

To create View References:

After all, views are created simply click the Create/Update button and a reference will be added to all Detail/Section views on all sheets.

The first time View Reference is used, you will need to choose your options by clicking the configure button.  If you try to add references before doing so, a window will pop up telling you that you have not selected a View Reference Style and ask if you want to configure it now. Clicking Yes will open the View Reference Configuration window. Your style will then be saved so you will not have to select your style each time you add or update your View References, even after closing Inventor.

Clicking Create/Update will create View References based on your chosen styles if they do not exist on your drawing, or they will update them if they already exist. If a new view is created or an existing view is moved to a different sheet, clicking Create/Update will update all the references to the current locations. If you have added other text to a View label, the View References will be added and keep the existing text. To Remove View References from all sheets simply click the Remove button. All view labels will be returned to how they looked before adding the View Reference.

**IMPORTANT** If view labels need to be edited, view references should be removed before making any changes to the label to prevent issues when updating/removing the references.

To use the add-in, you will need to be logged in to your Autodesk Account in Inventor.

Additional Information

Known Issues

It is recommended that any changes to the view labels be made before adding view references to prevent potential issues when the references are updated or removed. If changes to the label need to be made after the references have been added, remove the references first, then make the label changes, and re-add the view references.
