iBuildList

Axion Technology LLC
iBuildList sorts identical bodies into a list that can be exported to Microsoft Excel. It is designed to help multi-body part modelers more easily navigate and manage their designs.

General Usage Instructions

You can access the iBuildList panel in the part document "Manage" tab of a part document. If you don't see it, make sure it is selected in the panel “show” menu.

The "Build List" button adds the list as a new browser tree to the "Model Browser" and includes the search features of the model browser. The "Delete List" button removes the browser tree.

The "Update List" button just deletes and rebuilds the list. When any changes are made to any of the bodies, the top node shows the update icon, indicating the tree may need to be refreshed. As of this version, the list is sorted by the larger surface area bodies toward the top.

Whenever the Autodesk® Inventor® "Find in Browser" feature is available in the context menu (right-click menu when a body is selected), the "Find in Build List" option is available. It expands the parent node of the selected part and highlights it. If the item is off-screen, it will bring it into the screen view.

The "Export to Excel" feature does just that. It's a list of each item and the quantity. It should support Excel 2007 on.

Installation/Uninstallation

The add-in uses the "Autodesk Entitlement" system to manage the license. For the first activation, you will need to be connected to the internet and subsequently at least every 30 days.

iBuildList requires .net 8.0 or later as a prerequisite, it can be found here "https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/8.0".

The add-in may not load automatically the first time. If it doesn't, go to the "Tools" tab, hit the "add-ins" button, and select the "iBuildList" add-in and make sure the "Loaded" and "Automatically Load" boxes are checked. If you don't see the add-in, reinstall it, making sure the install path is correct.
