Edge Symbol - ISO 13715

Edge Symbol - ISO 13715

Win64, English

Autodesk, Inc.
This add-In allows you to quickly generate edge symbols within your Autodesk® Inventor® drawing files.

General Usage Instructions

Start the command from the ribbon and fill in the edge information as required. If you need to add the "±" sign in front of a value, select an empty text box and click the "±" button at the bottom of the UI. Upon clicking "OK", select an edge within an existing drawing view at which you would like the symbol to attach.

If you would like to store a configuration within a preset, enter a preset name and click the "+" button, the current symbol definition will then be available within the dropdown list. If you enter the name of an existing preset, you will be prompted to overwrite it or not.

For general information around the symbology, refer to the "Definition" tab.

Commands

Installation/Uninstallation

Simply run the setup file, the AddIn will be loaded the next time you start Inventor.

If the users' Symbol Library folder is read-only, the user will be prompted about it upon startup of Inventor and can choose a directory for copying the Symbol Template file "ISO_13715.idw" to. The default is the current users' Desktop. The template file then needs to be manually copied into the Symbol Library by someone with the appropriate access to the folder.

The command will be within the "Annotate" tab in the drawing environment under the "Symbols" Control group.

Presets are stored within the users' AppData folder under "\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\ISO13715\ISO13715.config"

Edit the file accordingly if you would like to remove created presets. For resetting them, the fastest solution would be to re-run the Installer Setup.

Known Issues

when selecting an edge with an existing leader point (e.g. from a drawing dimension), the correct model edge may not be found, which will be indicated by an error message.

In such a case, try to select a point close to the corner in order for the symbol to snap to it.

The behavior is currently still under investigation
