General Usage Instructions
After installing the add-in you need to launch Autodesk® Inventor® to generate the default configuration file. There is no user interface to change the configuration. This is because the add-in loads the configuration in the background and they should be applied to all Inventor users in your organization without the possibility that someone makes changes for themselves.
The add-in has a distribution method in place to easily distribute the same configuration to every Inventor workstation. Before you are going to distribute the configuration file you need to modify the configuration file according to your needs.
Changing the configuration file
Restart Inventor after installing the app.
Use Windows Explorer to browse to this location: %appdata%\Cadac Organice Vault 2020
Open the file ‘OrganiceVaultInventorIntegrationOptions.xml’ with a text- or xml editor.
Enable or disable the features according to your needs. The configuration file mainly contains of boolean values (true/false). Please make sure you are using lower case letters when changing the values.
Available options in the configuration file
Makes sure the Structured View of an Inventor assembly BOM is enabled when saving an assembly document. This avoids missing DetailID values in Item BOM’s in Vault.
Makes sure the Physical Properties are up-to-date when saving an Inventor Part or Inventor Assembly.
Makes sure the Update Copied Properties command is executed when an Inventor drawing is being saved. This ensures the copied model properties to drawing properties are always up-to-date.
Ensures the part number property of Frame Generator components always corresponds to the generated file name.
Ensures the Generate File Number dialog is always being shown when saving an Inventor Drawing or Inventor Presentation document.
Ensures Vault File Numbering is being used when Tube & Pipe documents are being saved.
Checks if the user is logged into Vault when saving a document of the first time.
Checks if the user is logged into Vault when starting a new document.
Disables the standard Revision table in Inventor to enforce the use of the Vault revision table for all users.
Removes the ‘Skip’ button from the File Number Generator dialog in Inventor.
Disables the Change Category command in Inventor to enforce users to use the command In the Vault Client.
Disables the Change State command in Inventor to enforce users to use the command In the Vault Client.
Disables the Revise command in Inventor to enforce users to use the command In the Vault Client.
Makes sure this Inventor Application Option is turned on. This avoids weird behavior in Inventor when using the revision management capabilities of Autodesk Vault.
Makes sure this Inventor Application Options is turned off for all users. No automatic replacements should occur when using the revision management capabilities of Autodesk Vault.
Adds a command to the context menu in Inventor to enable easy opening a related drawing from a document or assembly occurrence.
Adds a redial marking menu to the graphical area in Inventor to give quick access to the most used Vault commands in Inventor by using the right mouse button combined with the ctrl key
Adds a custom iProperty to the Inventor document. This property can be mapped to a Vault property to be able to sort and filter in Vault or to assign specific categories in Vault by using the Category Rules. (Normal, Purchased, Inseparable or Reference)
<BOMStructurePropertyName> BOM Structure</BOMStructurePropertyName>
Defines the name of a custom property that will be added to your Inventor documents if the BOMStructurePropertyName is enabled. Possible values are:
Adds a custom iProperty to the Inventor document. This property can be mapped to a Vault property to be able to sort and filter in Vault or to assign specific categories in Vault by using the Category Rules. (Examples: Weldment, Nailboard Drawing, Design Accelerator and many more)
<DocumentSpecialtyPropertyName> Document Specialty</DocumentSpecialtyPropertyName>
Defines the name of a custom property that will be added to your Inventor documents if the EnableDocumentSpecialtyPropertyOnSave is enabled. Possible values are:
Piping Route Document
Piping Hose Document
Standard Content Center Document
Custom Content Center Document
Frame Generator Document
Frame Generator Skeleton Document
Frame Generator Member Document
Piping Runs Document
Piping Run Document
Piping Route Document
Stress Analysis Document
When using File Numbering of Autodesk Vault the occurrence names of an Inventor assembly are reflecting the generated numbers only. This makes it harder for Design Engineers to know which component is what. For them it’s easier to work with logical names instead of just numbers. The Model Browser Rename feature is combining the file name, revision and description properties for each occurrence. For example: an occurrence name ‘AE0000010:1’ could result in ‘AE0000010/A – SIDE PLATE:1’ after renaming has taken place.
Defines if the Model Browser Rename feature needs to traverse through the whole assembly structure or the first level only. Setting this value to ‘true’ increases the performance, but should only be used if you build your assemblies ‘bottom-up’
Defines the iProperty that is being used in the formula ‘[filename]\[revision] – [description] to calculate the display name of a part in the Part Environment. The identifier property ‘Description’ could be changed to ‘Title’ if you are using that iProperty instead of ‘Description’.
Defines the iProperty that is being used in the formula ‘[filename]\[revision] – [description] to calculate the display name of an occurence in the Assembly Environment. The identifier property ‘Description’ could be changed to ‘Title’ if you are using that iProperty instead of ‘Description’.
Defines the iProperty that is being used in the formula ‘[filename]\[revision] – [description] to calculate the display name of a drawing in the Drawing Environment. The identifier property ‘Description’ could be changed to ‘Title’ if you are using that iProperty instead of ‘Description’.
Distributing the settings file
The distribution method works as followed:
Upon launch of Inventor the active project file is checked to determine the Design Data folder location.
The Design Data folder is queried to check if a configuration file is available on this location
If the configuration file exists it will be copied to the local drive (%appdata%\Cadac Organice Vault 2020)
Inventor reads the configuration from the local configuration file
To make the configuration file available for all users you need to follow the steps below:
Go to the %appdata%\Cadac Organice Vault 2020 location on the system where you made your changes.
Open another Windows Explorer browser and go to your Design Data folder location.
In there you will find a ‘Cadac Organice Vault 2020’ folder, which is empty by default.
Copy the OrganiceVaultInventorIntegrationOptions.xml file from your local drive (AppData location) to the Design Data folder location.
Restart Inventor on all other workstations that are using the same Design Data location to distribute the configuration to all users.

Vault Radial Marking Menu
This command can be accessed by holding down the CTRL key combined with clicking the right mouse button. The radial marking menu gives access to several Vault commands directly in the graphical area of Inventor.
Open Drawing From Vault
This command is available in the context menu (RMB) in the Part and Assembly environment. Click with the right mouse button on a document or assembly occurrence to open the related drawing directly from Vault.
The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from Autodesk App Store has already installed the app/plug-in. After installation, the software needs to be activated by clicking the 'Request License' in the license dialog. You'll get your free activation code as soon as possible.
You may have to restart Inventor to completely unload the application.
To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button.
OR, you can uninstall it from 'Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features' just as you would uninstall any other application from your system.
