Description

EMS is a 3D electromagnetic field simulator software suite, based on the powerful finite element method.

EMS is seamlessly integrated inside Autodesk® Inventor®.

 

The full integration in Inventor means that users will not need to import, export, heal, clean, or fix any geometrical inconsistency because they will be working right inside Inventor while optimizing their electromechanical design. This will allow our users to shorten their design cycle and get their product to the market quickly.

EMS targets four main areas: electromechanical, electromagnetics, power electronics, and electromagnetic behavior.

 

EMS empowers the designer to compute electric, magnetic, mechanical, and thermal parameters - including, force, torque, magnetic flux density, magnetic field, electric field, electric flux, current flow, eddy current, inductance, capacitance, resistance, flux linkage, core loss, saturation, induced voltage, force density, power loss, temperature, temperature gradient, heat flux and more.  

EMS applications include: motors, generators, linear and rotational actuators, relays, MEMS, magnetic recording heads, magnetic levitation, solenoids, loud speakers, coils, permanent magnets, sensors, NDT, NDE, high power, high voltage, transformers, inverters, converters, bus bars, inductors, insulation studies, bushings, electrostatic discharge, electromagnetic shielding, EMI, EMC, medical devices, eddy current devices, fuses, circuit breakers, capacitors, etc.

 

Note: This app uses a custom installer (and not the standard App Store installer).

Trial Description

The trial version has no limit on session time or meshes size.

A full-featured trial is available upon a request from our support.

The product works for a 15 day trial period.

* Features/Enhancements: - Transient solver: Solver updates to make voltage-driven and eddy current problems give more accurate results. - Transient solver: New improved method to compute core loss.  - Transient solver: Compute dynamic inductance and dynamic resistance circuit parameters. - AC Magnetic: New and more accurate computation method for non-linear materials.    - Magnetostatic: Enhanced the non-linear solving method for normal and high accuracy solvers. - Mesh: Improved meshing quality. - Geometry processing: Enhanced geometry changes processing. - User Interface: Add menu item in EMS assembly tree root item to open model location. - User Interface: Add a check and popup message to inform the user if there is a missing material on the study solids before starting the solver. - Materials library: New materials were added and non-linear magnetic materials have smooth BH curves. - Results table supports switching between the unit systems from the general options. - Fixed a crash when unloading some add-in components on a failed/expired license initialization. - Meshing: Processing and preparing for surface mesh is now more accurate, reducing failures with certain geometries. - Validate before a run: Add more checks before running (Missing load/restraint, No coercivity direction, ..). - Possibility to do 3D plots on selected solids from the Inventor geometry (Not only plot visible solids on the feature tree). - Highlight a selected solid body from the model geometry in the EMS feature tree. - On parameterization, creating the mesh makes the first scenario the default one to mesh, not all scenarios. - Demo-Trial version: Allow a limited study solving count for non-demo models. * Fixes: - Random rare crashes can occur in the first creation volume mesh creation. -Fixed - Some non-linear materials do not start with point BH(0, 0). - Fixed - Cancel mesh takes a long time. - Fixed

    I used EM works for a small motor prototype, and i cannot be more pleased with the software. When coupled with 16 cores the simulations are quick accurate. Also the suite of options available for use can be intimitating at first but once familiar with the software it is very easy to use.

    Very purpose build tool that just works. Used it to calculate lorenz forces and coil inductance in a coreless linear motor.

    Inventor integration allows for quick desing iterations.

    This is one of the best simulation software that I have came across. It is very useful especially for the simulation study of electromagnetic fields and forces. It can be used easily on the CAD model in the Inventor.
