Description
BOM Tools for Autodesk® Inventor® has been developed to export Autodesk Inventor's Bill of Materials to Excel, including each part's thumbnail or image as listed in the BOM. Other properties like Part Number, Description, and Material etc. are also included and exported to the Excel file.
An additional option to include model parameters has been added which makes it useful to include sizing information like cut lengths or sheet metal flat pattern extents inside the Excel file with the thumbnail of your part. This is very useful for downstream processing purposes and eliminates error prone manual work-flows.
BOM Tools for Autodesk Inventor now includes the ability to export the "Structured", “Structured with All levels” or "Parts Only" Bill of Materials to Excel.
Install BOM Tools today and use the full version of BOM Tools Pro for 15 days to test it out. After 15 days the Free version will automatically cary on.
Limitations of the Free version is as follows:
- BOM Tools FREE has a 100 row limit when exporting the Autodesk Inventor's Bill of Materials to Excel.
- Only Part Number, Description, Quantity and Thumbnail properties can be exported.
- Paramaters cannot be exported
Extra Notes:
- You will find the app icon on the Desktop.
- Autodesk Inventor must be running for this app to work.
- This is a 15 day trial.
About This Version
Version 4.3.3, 5/25/2016Autodesk Inventor 2017 compatible. Bug fixes and Trial license implementation
great time saving app, once you set this setting to you custom properties it works awesome. Also top service of Micrographics.
Thanks for the kind words Pascal!
Great addon but when you try to go up to 50 rows a pop up appears..."You cannot export more than 50 rows with free version".
Hi sorry about that. We will fix the mixed messaging in the next version and make sure that row limit of the free version ties up with what we say in the description.
挺好的,就是没有中文版
I've been using this tool for some time now and it is useful getting a thumbnail into an excel BOM. However, I can see that it lists a 100 row limit for the "free" version, but when running the program I get a pop-up stating that 50 rows is the max on my Structured BOM. Running 4.1.1.0
Hi Larry, thanks for the feedback. Yes the description above is outdated and I will fix that. Its actually referring to the differences between "BOM Tools STD" and "BOM Tools Pro". BOM Tools STD does not exist any longer. Its now only "BOM Tools Pro" and "BOM Tools Free". BOM Tools Free has a 50 line limit. Hope this makes sense and sorry for the inconvenience and confusion.
Works well, but this appears to be a Trial version, not a Free version as indicated above. Limited functionality after 15 days.
Hi Jerry, The app has two versions built in one. The free version and the Pro version. By default the Pro version is active for the first 15 days and then the free version kicks automatically in after that. Hope this helps.
hi david when im trying to export it comes only the hole assembly to a thumb nail not each part.
Hi Mark, Please email me here: ivtools@mgfx.co.za I can support you via email Pieter
Works great but does not recognize virtual components.
Hi David, BOM Tools does in fact recognize Virtual components. You are running the latest version 4.0.6? If you want you can email me and I will have a look at your issue. My email is listed in the details section.
I installed this program and now my Inventor 2014 no longer works properly. I deinstalled the program however the problems remain. Inventor crashes when I try to load some models and with other models it just hangs.
Hi Tobias, I am sorry to hear that. BOM Tools does not modify any Inventor files in any way. It also does not modify any other system services or files required by Inventor so its highly unlikely that BOM Tools have caused this issue on your PC. We have hundreds of satisfied users world wide and this is the first time something like this has been reported so I can assure you that its not the BOM Tools installation that has caused this.
Tobias, I started to install this app and it asked me to install .NET 4.5 and I cancelled because I have had the same problems you described on another occasion. When installing .NET 4.5 it uninstalled 4.0 and then I had problems; reinstalled 4.0 and Inventor behaved normally. Hope that helps.
I work for a company that uses ALL major CAD softwares. I am head deep in a project right now (Inventor 2014) and I need BOM exporting capabilities. I had to download the free trial of BOM Tools Pro because Inventor will not export to MS Excel directly. Why? - I ask. Why is it that all other CAD softwares allow exporting BOMs to Excel directly except in the case of Inventor where I have to pay (in addition to the licensing and maintenance) to receive the BOM functionality that comes standard with other CAD software? The program otherwise works great. My stars are atributed to the program itself - certainly not the methodology of Company behind it.
Even Inventor 2011 can export BOM to XLS, so V2014 should do it too. Right click on your parts list and select Bill of Materials. Go to structured tab, right click on it and select view properties, then set view to all levels if you want to export not just the first level. Select the upper left icon (export BOM) and there are several export formats. I've gathered these informations just a few minutes ago :) Selecting "Export..." from the bottom gives you only XML format which is confusing, I admit.
Hi, ok Inventor can actually export its BOM to many formats including Excel. What makes BOM Tools so special then you may ask. Well BOM Tools can export part properties to Excel including a thumbnail/bitmap image of the part. Lots of companies need this functionality. It can also include any parameter including custom parameters and sheet metal extent parameters. It puts it in a nice format and easy to work with.
