Property Editor
Digitally signed app
Description
This plugin adds a dockable window to the Autodesk® Inventor® user interface where iProperties of active/selected components can be displayed and changed. The dockable window can be turned on in the same way as other dockable panels inside Inventor (iLogic, Representations, Model).
Visible iProperties may be configured in the settings. All settings are saved to a json file for easy distribution among PC's. The settings button can be found in Assembly, Part, Drawing and Zero Doc environments on the tools tab.
To see the mass of multiple items, enable the setting 'Summate mass values when multiselecting'. Mass of selected parts will be added together instead of displaying *VARIES* with this setting enabled.
In the part environment:
- The window displays the active parts properties.
In assembly environment:
- The window displays the active assemblies properties.
- You can select occurrences to display/edit their properties.
- When multi-selecting, if one of the displayed properties is not equal, the window will display *VARIES*.
In the drawing environment:
- The window displays the active drawings properties.
- You can select drawing views and drawing curves to display the part/assemblies properties.
- Multi-select is disabled in drawings.

This has saved me a LOT of time since now i don't have to go to the iProperties anymore, everything is just right there for me. Thank you for making this... I would be happy to see prompted entrys make their way in from drawings and i would gladly pay for this app.
When will you have 2025 available?
An excellent APP that helps streamline my workflow.
A question for the developer...is there a way that a formula would show up if it happens to be in one of the fields. E.G I regularly use formulas for component sizing in the description field. This app doesn't show there is a formula attached to the field.
Hi Greg, I'm working on a new version which includes all of the suggestions in the comments including this one. However, because it was quite some work I am thinking to make it a paid app. Would this be a problem for you? Regards Bas
No, that wouldn't be a problem for me.
New version is almost ready. Am looking for a few people that want to test the app. If you're interested please message me at bas@basautomationservices.com.
Is it possible to deactivate the mass and volume fields? I have a very large assembly and when I have the application open, it totally crashes the pc
Has this been fixed?
This add-in is great, and really improves some tedious aspects of my workflow.
I do have a couple of suggestions though. First, I would love to be able to see the "Location" property that is shown under iProperties>Project. I often want to verify the filepath of a selection since we have a lot of legacy data that can be in odd places. Second, it would be great if environment specific properties (sheet metal rule, flat pattern stuff) would hide if the selection isn't a compatible part. Also, when placed in the right side pane, it's pretty agressive about jumping to the front. I normally want the vault tab on top of the right panel, but this seems to take priority when opening new files. Very minor complaint, and overall a great add-in.
The app is really extremely helpful and I'm glad it's offered :)
I have 2 small points for a suggestion for improvement.
If I have many properties in the list below each other and I drag the dockable window smaller, no scrollbar appears, but the last properties are simply not shown.
If I select many parts (>1000) at the same time, I have to disable the app, because otherwise the selection in Inventor 2023 becomes extremely slow. It also makes no difference if I do not calculate the mass together.
It would be nice if you could deselect mass and number of selected files in the settings. I only need the properties.
Hi Nico, Thanks for your review and feedback. I am aware of the scrollbar issue, in the next update I will re-do the UI so it will be more flexible when resizing and with a lot of properties. Thanks for letting me know about the many parts issue. This makes sense cause the app will try to read the properties of all the parts. Will add a threshold for amount of parts selected at the same time. Also the last point is a good one. Wil add settings for this. The update might take some time though since at the moment I am not at home till April. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Could you please fix the many parts issue? I have the same issue and it is very annoying...
Sorry guys.. have been busy and haven't had time to fix the issues. Hopefully I will have some time in the beginning of October.
The only problem for me is that the lines of only the iproperties (white line in your first picture) for some reason dont go till the end of the dock (on the righ) but are shorter so that I cant see enough of what is written inside! My version is 2021
Hi Ivan, thanks for the review! I think I understand what you mean, can you please contact me at support@basautomationservices.com?
I found something wrong.
'Mass' displays Area value and 'Area' displays mass value.
It would be nice if it has unit each values.
If a file has Custom iProperties named with multi-byte text (Japanese in my environment), its values don't show up.
Thanks for the feedback. Didn't realise I accidentally swapped mass/area. Published a fix. Please contact me at support@basautomationservices.com to see about the multi-byte text issue.
I realized how much I needed. very nice, thanks a lot
Thanks for the review Ilker!
Hello, could you perhaps add DATA type so that we can choose date? I was looking for an alternative to the iProp app-in, which unfortunately does not support the 2022 or 2023 versions.
Added support for date's with a DatePicker. Might take a few days for the app to be updated in the store. The *VARIES* does not work anymore now for date properties.
