The Replace command of Autodesk® Inventor® is only to use with a file browser dialog. Sometimes it's easier to replace components by choosing them visually. e.g. you have one bolt in the assembly you want to replace by another bolt (with another length).
If you insert the second bolt into the assembly you can simply replace the first by choosing the second one without navigate trough the file bowser dialog.

Added Autodesk® Inventor® 2019 compatibility
Simply go to the applications folder (e.g. C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\Creaffectivity_VisualReplace.bundle\Contents) open the Autodesk.Graphical_Replace_1.Inventor.addin file, and edit the lines: SupportedSoftwareVersionGreaterThan and SupportedSoftwareVersionLessThan. The 2022 is version 26. Then it should work. (here it does)

I had no idea it was not updated. Ill contact the developer and ask him to update it.
It is so sad that this wonderfoul app does not work in 2020. Please make it work, I miss it so much!!!
I too wish it would work automatically for version 2020 and later. But I have found a simple workaround: - First of all, close Inventor. - Locate where the application plugins from Autodesk (not Inventor but Autodesk) are stored. Usually, it should be: C:\\ProgramData\\Autodesk\\ApplicationPlugins\\ - The Creaffectivity_VisualReplace.bundle folder should be there. Open it. - In the bundle, there's a file named Autodesk.Graphical_Replace_1.Inventor.addin. This file contains information about the addin and its references. Make a copy of this file for safety just in case. Then open the file with a simple text editor. - You should see a line of text that starts with the <SupportedSoftwareVersionLessThan> node. In my case, the entire line is: <SupportedSoftwareVersionLessThan>24..</SupportedSoftwareVersionLessThan>. Completely erase this line of text. - Save the addin file and restart Inventor. You should see the Addin dialog box appearing to unblock/load the Visual Replace addin. - That's it! You have your favorite addin tool back, and it's still working since there was no major API changes for Visual Replace to work :)

This is a great app & time saver. Now it does not appear in the add in list although it appears in the App Manager.
Please remendy compatibility or incorporate function into Inventor

no Inventor 2020 compatibility
This was an excellent add-on. I was using it from Inventor 2017 to Inventor 2019 and made replacing compoment more streamlined.
A shame it looks to have been abandoned as there is no compatibility for Inventor 2020.
