Convert vertex animation to skin weights and joints. The main use is to compress mesh animations, such as a blendshape-driven animation or a cloth/muscle simulation, for use in the game engines.

General Usage Instructions

The vastSolver can be used as

  1. a compact GUI tool, OR
  2. an Autodesk® Maya® command. 

 

In the GUI mode, the user has to select a target mesh and set solving parameters. If the mesh animation is suitable for solving, the tool will solve and set up the mesh and joints (with "_vast" appended to the mesh name) in the scene. 

In Maya, the command vast is provided, and the command flags are the same as the parameters displayed in the GUI.

Installation/Uninstallation

The installer that ran when you downloaded this plug-in from the Autodesk App Store has already installed the plug-in.


Windows: To uninstall this plug-in, Simply rerun the installer by downloading it again from Autodesk App Store, and select the 'Uninstall' button, or you can uninstall it from 'Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features' (Windows 10/11), just as you would uninstall any other application from your system. The panel on the Plug-ins tab will not be removed until Maya restarts.

OSX: To uninstall this plug-in, simply delete the module directory from your system. The panel on the Plug-ins tab will not be removed until Maya restarts.

Additional Information

The plugin supports Maya versions 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
