Red9 Studio Tools
Description
NEWS: Red9 is now offering consultancy services for all projects big and small. Looking to speed up your workflow, or stuck on systems and need help, drop us a line. www.red9consultancy.com Please check the website for updates on both the StudioPack and ProPack toolsets, we also now offer full rigging services using our proprietary Red9 Puppet rigging system.
Red9 StudioTools were born out of frustration, based on years of production experience building pipelines and toolsets around a modern animation workflow. It's aimed at those studios & individuals looking for a professional and integrated solution for dealing with complex rigs/setups but without the benefit of an R&D department to write bespoke solutions.
All key animation features run a filter under the hood that allows you to tailor the systems to your rig/ hierarchy, once configured the toolset hooks seamlessly to your solution, allowing animation mirroring, pose saving, rig and transform snapping, time management, key copying, attr copying and a host of other core features, all filtered internally to deal with your setup.
For the TD's there's a complete metaData api included with tons of reference video's showing you how to use it and subclass it for your own purposes, this is aimed at structuring rig networks under the hood. There's also powerful Python filtering and node matching classes exposed. Additional tools include AttrMaps for dealing with hierarchy locking and storing, as well as a SceneReview tool which is ideal for tracking comments on a shot by shot basis across a studio.
Why OpenSource, well I want to give something back to the industry as I really feel for those studios without the benefit of a large R&D department to craft pipelines around them. The Studio Pack is designed to speed up a modern animation pipeline.
All comments and suggestions are welcomed.
Available on Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux
this tool is so cool.
I am using Maya 2024. Nothing appears after installation.
I installed it, but it says:Error: TypeError: file C:/ProgramData/Autodesk/ApplicationPlugins/Red9StudioPack/Contents/scripts\Red9\core\Red9_AnimationUtils.py line 745: Invalid flag 'rs'。。。。。HELP!PLEASE!
Try open Maya2022 for py2
I installed it, but it says: Error "No module named 'startup'" I'm using Maya 2022 though, could this be a problem? One more thing, I have Blender installed in my machine, would it by any chance interfere since it has its own Python directory? I gave you 5 stars anyway for the useful plugin.
1. Visit: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\Red9StudioPack\Contents\scripts\Red9\startup\maya_native . Duplicate the folder "maya_2019", then rename it to "maya_2022" 3. go to: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\Red9StudioPack 4. Edit file: PackageContents.xml 5. Change SeriesMax="2022", save | 6. Open maya, use python script import Red9 Red9.start()
There is no tools after setup, help please!
Sorry for not picking this up, can you tell me whats happening?
I also have this problem with Maya 2020. The fix is as follows. 1. Press window + R: paste this %programdata%\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\Red9StudioPack\Contents\scripts\Red9\startup\maya_native 2. Duplicate the folder "maya_2019", then rename it to "maya_2020" 3. Open maya 2020, use python script import Red9 Red9.start()
A great toolset for animators and riggers to unify rigs under one roof.
From a TD pov; this is an incredible foundation to build a pipeline on. So many of the core ideas and basic building blocks are already there ready to be exploited. Meta itself is a really neaty way to handle maya nodes and makes working with rigs & animation scenes very simple & intuitive
Use them all the time. Must have for 3D generalist. Love them. Red9 is the best.
Great tool for animators and motion editors. Been using it for just over a year now and can't see myself using Maya without it. The snapping tools I use on a daily basis, no need for constraints when a character has multiple contacts, just use the track or stabilize button. Such a time saver. Highly recommended!
I've always regarded Red9 Studio Tools as one of the best free tools out there, very comprehensive and very stable plus there's a ton of tuts on Mark Jackson's site to get you going, also a big thank you for MAC OS X support!
Absolutely amazing set of tools for animators and riggers. Highly recommend it. The animation binder tool is a huge lifesaver! The pose library and animation tools are so useful. And all of it for free!!!!!
Great set of tools, with everything I might need, and probably more (still need to dig deeper)! Very professional, stable, and powerful.
