  • very limited and basically useless car rig
    | February 02, 2016 Verified Download (What's this?)

This 'rig' is a big disappointment. It is so limited in its functions that it turns out to be completely useless in any serious production environment. The features shown in the short VideoClips are mostly there, but thats exactly it. And looking any closer reveals the extremely limited functionallity of the resulting rig: The wheel rotation will only work with the car being animated EXACTLY along the Z Axis!! No turning possible! (or the wheels will stop spinning or rotate backwards) -not what i spend my money for. Path animation kinda works, But again Wheel rotation is only working exactly along the Z Axis. It is not possible to drive a curve or a U-turn with the wheels spinning correctly. Terrain following is a mess too. As soon as the elevation of the ground is a bit higher (or lower) than the wheels radius, the rig is literally falling apart with the body flying and the Wheels ripped off in all directions. So, as long as you're going to animate a car driving exactly along the Z axis on a Ground exactly on the XZ Plane and with only small bumps, the rig works kinda fine. But thats about all it can do. It is promised as a 'good' rig 'needed for VFX Shots' but it cant deliver. Wheels rotation is not working, you cant drive up a hill with this rig, there is no auto steering, its impossible to have two rigs in the same scene and the installer is a *.msi installer, so you need admin access to the installation folders (not ideal in a restricted working environment). I've contacted the author and he promised to improve the rig, lets see where this leads to....and when. So I have spent my money for nothing, I don't recommend buying this app.
