Block Manager
Win32 and 64, EnglishGeneral Usage Instructions
Installation
Simply use the installer file that you download from this website. Please make sure you run the installer in the administrator mode.
Licensing
You can freely use this product over the trial period. After that, you will need a license key that you can obtain from www.ajorbim.com. Please note that a license key is required even for free products.
General Use
This application can be used to manage block attributes, including block definitions and references. It can also be used to select the block references by their attribute values.
To run this application, type in BLOCMAN and press Enter or Space. Alternatively, you can press the application button on the toolbar.
Toolbar Button
The application comes with a partial menu customization file that creates a button in the Add-Ins tab automatically. However, you can choose to exclude this menu customization file from the package (through manually editing the PackageContents.xml file) if you prefer fewer buttons on the Add-Ins Ribbon. In this case, you should run the command through the command line.
Depending on the user-selected options, the application can also create a button programmatically on the Ribbon when it is run for the first time in the current session. This can be in the Add-Ins tab, or in a separate Ajor tab. If you exclude the cuix file and choose to add buttons programmatically, you will see the application button only after running the command through command line in each session; i.e. when you really want to work with this application.
If you are using the provided cuix file or have created your own toolbar button for this app, make sure you set the app options properly to prevent it from creating another button.
Managing Attribute Definitions
Attribute definitions can be modified in the first tab. Select a block definition on the left to review and modify its attribute definitions.
After selecting the block reference, use edit, add and remove buttons to manage the attribute definitions. If the "Modify references" checkbox is checked, the attribute modifications will also be applied to existing block references as well. Note that this does not apply to constant attributes. Note that this will only work on references that are not on locked layers and are not nested.
Managing Attribute Values for Block References
This tab lists all block references, including their attribute values. The list includes references on locked layers, but not nested references. Use the Edit button to edit attribute values (if they are not constant). Remove button will remove the block reference from the document. Note that edit commands only work on references that are not locked.
To ensure that the correct block is selected, you can use "Show" and "Select" buttons to identify the selection.
You can also get a csv report of block references using the "Export CSV" button.
Selecting Block References by their Attribute Values
This tab helps in the selection of block references by their attribute values. First, select the intended block definitions, then specify the conditions on their attributes. You do this by first selecting an attribute tag, its conditional operator and value, and then adding it to the conditions list. Added conditions can be removed or edited later. Finally, choose how the specified conditions will change the selection. The selection options work similar to the native Quick Select function of Autodesk® AutoCAD®.
The conditions that you can specify for selection by attribute values include:
- Equals
- Not Equals
- Greater Than (numerical or alphabetical)
- Greater Than or Equal To (numerical or alphabetical)
- Smaller Than (numerical or alphabetical)
- Smaller Than or Equal To (numerical or alphabetical)
- Numerical
- Not Numerical
