General Usage Instructions

There are two ways to create MeteorSpec LT objects:

1. Polylines with data are located right in the project drawing on a separate layers,

2. Polylines with data are located in a separate dwg-file, and the project drawing is attached as an external reference. 

At first you need to create the required working layers of the program, if it's not yet available in the drawing. This may be done by one touch of a button in the window "Drawing Units and Settings". In the same window you can set individual measurement units for the edited drawing.

Network models or area models can be created either in Model space, or in Paper space, at any layout tab of the drawing. A single drawing can comprise any number of engineering network models that are independent of each other and located at different layout tabs. 

Steps of using MeteorSpec: 

Step 1.  Line long spans of engineering networks or boundaries of areas are simulated with lightweight polylines. Polylines for total length calculations should be drawn on a layer "meteor-spec-length" and polylines for total area calculations should be drawn on a layer "meteor-spec-area". 

Step 2.  Assigning (or changing) data to the polylines via the window “Object Data”.  

Step 3. Calculation of summarized lengths or summarized areas of the model objects, reviewing the results via the window "Total Length Calculation" or " Total Area Calculation”. And finally, you may print the table of report right into the drawing or create the report file. 

During the work, you can freely modify Meteor Spec objects by means of Autodesk® AutoCAD® (to change length and/or location of polylines) and by means of the program (to change types of objects). Next you need to get a new specification table with updated results after making changes.

MTR-SP-DBEDIT

Edit Data Library. Opens “Edit Data Library” window. Write there the necessary grades and types that you plan to use now and in the future.

MTR-SP-SETTINGS

Drawing Units and Settings. Shows “Drawing Units and Settings” window. User can assign units of measurements for the length or areas, such, as the User may need for his field of design work.

MTR-SP-AREA

Total Area Calculation. Runs the calculation of summarized areas and opens “Total Area Calculation” window.

MTR-SP-MULTY

Multiple Object Data. Opens “Multiple Object Data” window for viewing and assigning data to several objects.

MTR-SP-OPTIONS

Options. Shows “Options” window.

MTR-SP-DATA

Object Data. Opens “Object Data” window for viewing and assigning data.

MTR-SP-LENGTH

Total Length Calculation. Runs the calculation of summarized lengths and opens “Total Length Calculation” window.

Installation/Uninstallation

The installer that ran when you downloaded this plug-in from Autodesk App store has already installed the plug-in. You may need to restart the Autodesk product to activate the plug-in.  

To uninstall this plug-in, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Windows 7/8/8.1/10) or Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Windows XP), and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.

Additional Information

When MeteorSpec first strats you will be asked to confirm the License Agreement. You must accept this agreement to start using the program.

Additional information for installation in earlier versions of AutoCAD (2005-2011) is shown on our website www.meteorspec.com/faq and in the program Help.

Known Issues

The polylines, are used for the area calculations, should not include self -intersections. The area calculations of self-intersections polylines might be incorrect. The program will show warning message if you try to calculate an area of self-intersections polyline.

In the area calculations, program checks for the presence of polylines self-intersections. Don't use self-intersecting polylines for area calculations.
