Nav to Rev

Win64, English

VDC Toolbox
Instantly transfer points and geometry from Autodesk® Navisworks® to Autodesk® Revit® in real-time.

General Usage Instructions

To make the "Navis->Revit" settings panel to appear in Navisworks, go to the "Tool-Add-ins 1" tab and select the "Navis->Revit" icon.

Mesh->Revit Usage

Be sure that the correct Revit Units are selected in the Revit Units Dropdown within the "Navis->Revit" settings panel. There is a section of the "Navis->Revit" panel labeled "Mesh->Revit". It is from here that you can choose what category the Mesh will reside on in Revit. You can also choose to export each selected object as a separate selectable object in Revit, or as one single selectable object. What objects are considered "Separate", as well as the names of the objects in Revit, will depend on the level of selection filter applied. Once the export settings are set, select all objects that you wish to export and right-click to select "Mesh->Revit" from the right-click menu to export the geometry. Please note that when using Navisworks 2020 and exporting a large number of objects with "Mesh->Revit", the Navisworks Ribbon may become unresponsive. Please see the screenshot on the app home page for a fix to make the Ribbon responsive again.

Point->Revit Usage

Be sure that the correct Revit Units are selected in the Revit Units Dropdown within the "Navis->Revit" settings panel. There is a section of the "Navis->Revit" panel labeled "Points->Revit". It is from here that you can choose what category the Point(s) will reside on in Revit. "Points->Revit" uses the Point to Point measurement tool to transfer points from Navisworks into the active Revit View. With a point (or points) selected in the model using Navisworks Measure "Point to Point" tool, you can select the “Points->Revit” button to draw a sphere (or spheres) in the last active Revit view accordingly.

About Revit Geometry

Unless the user specifies a different Revit Category in the settings dialog, both the "Mesh->Revit" and "Points->Revit" commands create Generic Model objects in Revit by defualt. In order to see the objects, be sure that Generic Models are selected in the Visibility/Graphics overrides for a view. The Generic Models for both the "Mesh->Revit" and "Points->Revit" commands will have the Type "NAV2REV", which will allow for clear identification within a schedule. The name of the object(s) is located in the "Comments" property field. The spheres generated with the "Points->Revit" command will have "Points->Revit" in the comments field. The name in the comments field with geometry generated with the "Mesh->Revit" command will vary depending on whether or not the user chose to export the objects separately. If the user decides to export each selected item separately, the name of the object at the current level of selection resolution will appear in the comments field prefixed with a "NAV2REV - ". If the user decides to not export each selected object separately, the name in the comments field will simply be "NAV2REV".
