Navis To Acad
Win64, EnglishGeneral Usage Instructions
To make the "Navis->Acad" dockable panel to appear, go to the "Tool-Add-ins 1" tab and select the "Navis->Acad" icon.
Mesh->Acad Usage
Be sure that the correct AutoCAD Units are selected in the AutoCAD Units Dropdown within the Navis->Acad panel. There is a section of the Navis->Acad panel labeled "Mesh->Acad". It is from here that you can select to export each selected object as a seperate block, with or without the navisworks properties written as block attributes. What objects are considered "Seperate", as well as what properties will be written to attributes, will depend on the level of selection filter applied. Once the export settings are set, select all objects that you wish to export and right click to select "Mesh->Acad" from the right click menu to export the geometry. Please note that Mesh->Acad is not optimized for very large exports so any very detail geometry, or a high volume of geometry, will take more time to export. Also note that during the export process, if AutoCAD is interacted with in any way an error may occur that causes the export to fail.
Point->Acad Usage
Points->Acad uses the Point to Point measurement tool to transfer points from Navisworks into the active AutoCAD Document. With a point (or points) selected in the model using Navisworks Measure "Point to Point" tool, you can select the “Sphere at First Point”, “Sphere at Second Point”, or “Sphere at Both Points” button to draw a sphere in the last active AutoCAD drawing accordingly. You can also simply click the "Points->Acad" button in the ribbon to transfer the points. If there is more than one instance of AutoCAD open, you may get unexpected results. The Units dropdown will allow you to translate into either inches or millimeters.
Transform->Acad Usage
Set the selection resolution to “First Object”. Select the desired object(s) to transform. With the object(s) selected, go to the "Items Tools" tab, "Transform" palette, and move the object with the Move tool. When the object is moved (transformed) where you would like it, right click on the selected object(s) and select Transform->Acad from the right click menu. All open AutoCAD documents will be searched for the corresponding object(s) and if they are found, the objects will be moved. You will be able to tell if an object is found because if it was found and successfully moved in AutoCAD, the transformation will be reset in Navisworks.
Common Causes of Error or Unexpected results
More than one instance of AutoCAD running.
Interacting with AutoCAD during a Mesh->AutoCAD export.
Having a command active in AutoCAD while trying to perform any Navis->Acad function.
The current layer is locked in AutoCAD while using Mesh->Acad or Points->Acad.
Having the block palette open may cause some intermittent issues
