Description

Throughout all phases of a construction project, multi-disciplinary team members need to collaborate and communicate with one another. There are multiple tools and technologies that are used to facilitate those interactions from informal/unstructured mechanisms (e.g. phone calls, emails, face to face meetings) to highly structured and contractual systems (e.g. cost, change or bid management systems). Most project teams need a system that provides structured, audited, and controlled interactions between team members for tracking formal but not contractual interactions typically referred to as an issue tracking system. ‘Issues’ can comprise questions, clarifications, notifications, descriptions, and alerts across the entire project team. The issue tracking system provides a mechanism to document issues, assign responsibility, and view the status of how the issue resolution is progressing.

The Navisworks Coordination Issues Add-In connects BIM managers and trade partners to project team contributors in the Autodesk Construction Cloud™ to work on a single source of truth model data, better group and organize Navisworks clashes, and efficiently batch create and respond to issues. Issues created on RVT models are accessible within the Revit® Issues Add-in to aid resolution. With this round-trip workflow, issues are created in either the Autodesk Construction Cloud or Autodesk® Navisworks® and are viewable and actionable in both, bringing the best of each environment to your next project.

The Navisworks Coordination Issues Add-In with Navisworks 2024 further extends connection to the Autodesk Construction Cloud, now providing cloud managed Navisworks data enabling multi-user participation on desktop. Save and edit Model Coordination aggregated Views directly from Navisworks. Automatic NWF management facilitates multi-Navisworks user workflows and includes Navisworks-data merging.

The Model Coordination app with the Autodesk construction Cloud enables creation of coordination spaces with the auto-clash process disabled, benefiting Navisworks users utilizing Clash Detective. These spaces provide direct access to latest model versions published to Autodesk Docs.

Note: This app uses a custom installer (and not the standard App Store installer).

  • Search sets not working
Derek Opara | July 02, 2024 Verified Download (What's this?)

While using find items in Navisworks to define search sets,  two 'AND' conditions do not work. Only one condition can be satisfied. Critically, I have used the same search sets on the same NWF with the same NWCs linked from the local drive - the conditions work fine. There looks a bug or some change in metadata meaning stacked 'AND' conditions do not work when files are linked through model coordination? Is there a  solution to avoid to avoid making search set redundant and thereby revising the whole clash process via navisworks- otherwise we will not be able to uwe the add-in

  • ACC Issues not showing
stuart hodgson | February 23, 2024 Verified Download (What's this?)

Constant issue even before the latest update. The ACC issues are not showing. Each time it take 15mins to reload navis (due to over 370 models on this project), this is now affecting the modelling production and clash checking.

  • On the right path, but still lacking fundamental features
Amedeo Papi | December 30, 2023 Verified Download (What's this?)

Batch-creation of issues from clashes was very welcomed, but it still lacks fundamental features. Two urgent ones are:

1 - Currently, you must select the clashes, then right-click to create issues from clashes. It would be great to create batch issues across multiple clash tests, e.g. from all new, or all active, etc. If so, the BIM Coordinator could go quickly through the clashes to filter out the false positive, then, at the end of the process, create all the clashes from the new or active ones. It would be great to have a panel where assigning an issue template for each clash test. That would incredibly speed up the process, as common workflows define the clash tests so that all the clashes in that specific clash test are assigned to the first model.

    2. It is critical to create a clash-issues synch feature, so all the clashes geometrically resolved can be automatically marked as closed (or assigned a parameter, should the BIM Coordinator want absolute control on closing them). Manually closing issues is a very tedious process, and should be left for "custom" issues created by project memebers, not by Navisworks.

    Christie Rajtarova | February 21, 2024

100% behind your comment. There is minimum integration with issues and clashes- which is what model coordination is for...how was this missed? And Issue pins XYZ or basic clash report exports are lacking in model coordination. If it is supposed to be Navis replacement for those who do not have the software, at least provide the basic clash features and ability to save tests and export results properly. Max The limit of 100 issues published from clashes is relatively low, and should be increased up to 500 minimum.

  • Great Plugin Still not as Good as BIMTrack
Robert Levy | July 31, 2023 Verified Download (What's this?)

-there is an issue where clash viewpoint locations are lost and change. It might have to do with model locations moving. Another thing that doens't happen in BIMTrack. Please associate the viewpoint with an XYZ location NOT a model location which causes problems.

-Also you cannot update the location of the viewpoint after creating the issue. this has huge impacts because the point of using issues is that you have a history showing issue creation date. we cannot afford to have to re-create an issue just because we cannot update a viewpoint location. don't tell me to update it in the web interface because that doesn't work either. Too time consuming to go back and fourth and it doesn't actually update issue viewpoint.

-This plugin needs a separate window for viewing images. When you view images in it it expands the interface large and then we have to keep messing with the palette size every time we look at the images attached. This issue is already solved in BIMTrack

-This plugin also needs a way to tag multiple clash locations with one issue. This is already present in BIMTrack.

-This plugin also needs a way to send clashes to issues and bring them back from issues back to the clash detective, BIMTrack has a lot of this figured out, but if Autodesk is going to compete with BIMTRack, then you should find a better way to do this. You are a 1.27 billion corporation.

-I have no clue what the "Append models" feature does it is always greyed out and I cannot find any Autodesk help articles explaining its usage.

    Shaun Clough | October 25, 2023

The Append can be used if you are opening models 1 at a time without using a saved view.

  • Need to improved
Marco Gasparetto | May 04, 2023 Verified Download (What's this?)

The tools is great but needs some improvements in my opinion.

    Like these:

    - Possibility to attach a viewpoint in the Issues.

    - Possibility to open more than one Views from Model Coordination in one file. (there is a limit of 100 models)

     - Insulation from Plant3D read random, sometimes separated from pipe and sometimes like one object.

    - Possibility to open an Issue from Clash Detection from nwd as well.

    - If I open the Issues from nwf I cannot see those Issues in the nwd and vice versa.

    Hi,

This is a great feature, be even greater if you could incorporate a refresh button inside the coordination tab so it refreshes all the latest files being saved and uploaded to the ACC.

  • Could be better
Mike Tolbert | June 13, 2022 Verified Download (What's this?)

We lose our colors when appending files through Coordination. It also doesn't refresh when we re-export to NWC from Revit. We have to close out of the Navis file and re-open it, whereas the default Navisworks automatically refreshes models once exported.

It would be nice integrate Navisworks Coordination with Revit cloud worksharing so you can bring in Live Revit models so as soon as you save in Revit, Navisworks sees it as well and you can refresh.

  • Warning Clash Test Update not showing
Sergio Ramírez | May 31, 2022 Verified Download (What's this?)

I noticed the following issue: If I update the database in BIM 360, the warning to update the clash detection after a model has been modified doesn't show up.

    1. I  store both the federated model along with the appended ones -  NWC and NWF files on BIM 360 in a Model coordination Space. (nwf file is currently outside Model Coordination Space folder)
    2. I use the Coordination addin for Navisworks to open those models  in the Navisworks desktop product.
    3. Once the model opened, you run clash detection in the NWF model in the Navisworks desktop product.

    Any help?

  • Issues Disappearing From Model
Colin Hofer | May 06, 2022 Verified Download (What's this?)

The way issues are tied to a specific element in a specific model means that with new versions of the model sometimes the issue disappears. I understand the intent is to tie an issue to a specific model element, but drafters often delete and remodel entire sections of scope, which changes the GUIDs and disociates the issue from that point in 3D space. This is very frustrating because you then have to find the issue list online and manually locate the issue based on a screenshot or description.

    Navisworks Applications (Publisher) | May 06, 2022

Hello Colin, while the issues are referenced to specific objects in the view, deleting that object would not cause the issue to disappear. The issues are tied to specific 'views' within the model however, and if that has been removed or changed names then the related issues may only appear in the project issues list. If you are having problems, please open a support case so we can determine the root cause.

    Hi

This is a great add-in but i am missing an important feature, which appears to be in earlier versions of the plugin (or at least when it was called B360 issues) - Templates. My version does not allow me to use template. Is there a reason this functionality is not in here anymore?

Robert Glover | June 07, 2021 Verified Download (What's this?)

This plugin has made a HUGE difference in how Barton Malow handles model related issues. The only issues we've really seen is when multiple users are adding issues in the same NWD and they are using different versions. Easily fixed by updating the plugin but it requires a manual version check. Autoupdate would be great!

  • Fundamental functions are not set up properly
Dick Elsman | April 28, 2021 Verified Download (What's this?)

Loading models initially works fine, however:

    ·         Decomposition of models is not as logically as NWC's have. DWG are not decomposed by layer but by class type (everything is 3d solid..)

o    Illogical but initially we can overcome this with search sets, however:

    ·        Properties are not displayed with the proper name, but as a long string in the name defining the grouping of the parameters.

o    Some sort of pahtname defining the hierarchy in the properties

§  This is almost undoable and unworkable for search sets

Solved with new update of navisworks 2021 update 2, thanks. problem still occurs in 2020.

o    From .dwg, when formula’s are used defining property values, the formala is shown and not the value

§  Not workable, probably in engine of bim360

    ·         Properties are not included when publishing it to .nwd

    ·         Not acceptable and not workable

Solved with new update of navisworks 2021 update 2, thanks. problem still occurs in 2020.

-- edited due to new update.

    Michael Priestman | April 29, 2021

We have improved the way we handle properties for models loaded from Model Coordination in Navisworks 2022 and Navisworks 2021 Update 2. If you could try updating to one of those versions, hopefully that should improve things (note that if you upgrade to Navisworks 2021 Update 2, you will have to explicitly check the "Convert Properties" option in the Global Options -> File Loaders -> SVF section). As for the structure of DWG files, they are presented exactly as they are shown in BIM 360 Docs. Navisworks has no control over the structure of the files as they are processed by our cloud services, and not Navisworks.

    Dick Elsman | April 30, 2021

This is indeed an improvement, however, in .dwg all properties are stored under "Property sets" then they appear with the groupname as prefix. for instance for instance the propertyset group Corridor information with parameter "volume" will be displayed as parametername: "Corridor information - volume". this can be improved by setting the propertyset group as a tab and not as a prefix. Then still, all formula values from .dwg are displayed with the formula instead of the value

    Mark Wijnacker | December 01, 2021

When opening with append a NWC or DWG it shows all the layers in compact modus. When opening with addon, it only shows filename in compact modus. For our Plant3d devision this means we need to append. Because of this we need make a nwf model for each user. This is kinda breaking the workflow with having 1 main nwf connected to the cloud for us.

After Creating the NWF set and Add the models and create the Clashes. I Cannot add a new model to this NWF set.

I should start again reviewing the clashes if a new model Added.

Is there any way to do that without losing the current clashes?

    Jeroen Franssens | March 25, 2021

I would also like to see the function. I have the same "issue".

    Kavon Samimi | April 30, 2021

You can get around this by using a "View" in Model Coordination to create the NWF, and save the NWF in the model coordination folder thru desktop connector. To append new files that show up in model coordination space (web) you would Add Models to the "View" (web) and update the view (web) and reload the NWF to bring in the new files. For this to work, you need Navis manage 2021 + the latest version of desktop connector + the BIM360 Issues plugin installed.

  • Geometry disappears when translating in Navisworks
Hayes Johnson | December 09, 2020 Verified Download (What's this?)

The plugin is great for getting BIM 360 geometry into Navisworks for further analysis achieved in BIM 360.  It's an easy way for a GC to create a federated model for viewability in the field that represents the latest model coordination efforts.  Unfortunately one of the things I like best about Navisworks is the ability to translate components to look at possible routing options with subcontractors during coordination meetings.  You can't do this in BIM 360 currently.  I would be happy with doing it in Navisworks instead, but as soon as I translate any object it disappears and regenerates at the origin, even after I save the NWF as a NWD.  Unfortunately without this function working it makes more sense for me to have subcontractors upload NWCs in addition to their native files, and then create my NWD the old fashioned way.

    Jarrod Baumann | February 10, 2021

Hayes - I agree the translate elements is essential functionality to support as are other items if using Navisworks to open models from BIM 360 Model Coordination. Autodesk (navisworks development team) is working on it based upon a support request we submitted. For now, here is where they will track it. https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/navisworks-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Using-the-Items-Move-tool-elements-disappears-in-BIM-360-Coordination-Model-files-in-Navisworks-Manage.html

One article states that you have to upload an NWD to the coordination space to be able to open and run issues in Navis. We did this and the model does not show. Is this the correct file type? I can see the Revit models only.

    Thanks!

    Shayne Hamel | October 07, 2020

If you email navisworks.apps@autodesk.com a link to the article you mention we will get it corrected if possible. NWD support is only for models opened through Desktop Connector, Coordination spaces support rvt/dwg/ifc

    Tony Stuart | October 08, 2020

    Lauren Collier | December 09, 2020

This Change from NWD to NWF - was a bad move for many reasons. We want all users identifying issues clash and none clash to an NWD file that is NOT in model Coordination because we collaborate beyond clashes . We want the Automatic Screen Grab to work if it is the NWD or NWF inside of Docs. If a user assigns a clash to the NWF and someone goes to review this clash and clicks on the new NWF hyperlink - it forces a Download because NWFs can't be viewed like the NWD inside of Web Viewer. PLEASE stop forcing Model Coordination for this really great tool you need the same features in both NWD Issues and NWF Issues.

Will we be able to save the Navisworks model's to docs? This seems critical as a way of replacing Glue.

    Brady Gerig | September 25, 2020

You can save Navisworks files to docs under project files. You can also use the desktop connector to save models to and they will upload to docs for you.

  • Nice plugin

When will the Navisworks 2021 version be ready?

    Shayne Hamel | October 07, 2020

Current release supports 2021, so if you have not updated already please do.

  • Great App - need to add screen shots
    Lauren Collier | August 25, 2020

This app is critical for VDCing a project in BIM 360. Please add an automatic screen grab of the issue or be able to snag a saved view... it very manual to do it but if your project has point clouds it brings context back to BIM 360.

    Zach Crumal | August 31, 2020

Hi - Happy to let you know that in both directions (NW to MC or MC to NW) automatic screenshots of the issue with clash highlighting will be attached to the issue (if from a MC Clash Issue or during NW Clash Detective even with Markups etc. as well)! We plan to release this next update in the next few weeks! Thank you for your support!

    Lauren Collier | September 01, 2020

@Zacg Crumal Great to hear this is coming. We need to automatic Screenshot for all Issues not just clashes to go into BIM 360 Issues for Docs & Field. There are several cases this saved view context is necessary well beyond the model coordination integration.

    Mondher Kacem | May 20, 2020

Hi, is it possible to share the clashs detection issues from navis to BIM360?

    Zach Crumal | June 24, 2020

Hi - Yes! Please reach out to your Autodesk Customer Success Manager and we can help fill you in and provide access to our next release currently in Beta! Issues created in both BIM 360 and Navisworks are shared, as well as viewpoint zoom-in and several other options to attach data/documents to an issue as well!

  • Great communication tool!

Fady Ramez | November 13, 2019 Verified Download (What's this?)

    Dear Autodesk,

Does the BIM 360 Issues App work on Navisworks Freedom or only Navisworks Manage?

    Best Regards,

    Fady

    Zach Crumal | June 24, 2020

Freedom has never allowed any plugins, so Manage is required

  • Using BIM 360 Glue with BIM 360 Docs
Gilles Pages | October 06, 2019 Verified Download (What's this?)

    Dear Autodesk,

Is there any plans to link the capacities of BIM 360 Glue with BIM 360 Docs issues tracking?

    Best Regards

    Gilles

    Navisworks Applications (Publisher) | October 10, 2019

Hi Gilles, this integration is only connecting BIM 360 Issues to Navisworks & BIM 360 Docs, upcoming plans are for integrating BIM 360 Model Coordination data sets directly into NW. BIM 360 Glue (classic) is not part of the next-gen platform/Document Management workflows.

    Brent Tassell | February 25, 2020

Yeah BIM360 Glue is now de-funct & replaced w/- BIM360 Coordinate. The killer is those that have previously deployed Glue on a project - can't de-bus it in order to install Coordinate. Another Autodesk Gazump
