Update block attribute text from an MText or Text object

General Usage Instructions

The user is asked to select the block with attributes. There are initial checks to ensure the selected item is indeed a block and has attributes.

Next the user is requested to select the Text or MText object, again with the same validations ensuring that the selected object is a Text or MText object.

The selected block is now analyzed and lists of the names of the attributes are calculated. The names are then inserted in to a dialog box that is shown to the user.

Please note that if there in excess of 10 attribute names, the first 10 found within the block will be selected only. The user now selects the attribute to be overwritten.

The application will read the text string in the object, update the attribute selected and remove the Text / MText object from the drawing. The UpdateAttSilent application is exactly the same as the UpdateAtt routine with the exception that there is no dialog box. To select the attribute to update, the user enters the exact attribute name.

Additional Information

Licensing Information All Darbury Consulting Ltd. Applications enforce a register license system which requires the active use of the internet on the user’s computer.

On the first run, the application will run immediately. On the 2nd run, it will advise the user that there are another 4 runs remaining. On the 3rd run, the user is asked to complete the registration information to continue past the initial 5 runs.

The Darbury servers will notice this request and validate the e-mail address of the registration information with the Autodesk provided list of authorized users. At this point, the license turns in to a perpetual license which will be used on all versions of the application and on the above versions of Autodesk® AutoCAD®.

After the 5th run, the user is requested to contact Darbury for resolution of the license. These license conditions are set to minimize the copying of the application to user’s who have not purchased the routine through Autodesk.

Known Issues

UpdateAtt - Please note that if there is excess of 10 attribute names in the selected block, the first 10 names found are the only ones to be shown in the dialog box.
