Route pipes and turn them into cable trays and change the length of the trays in the model.
Please note that these functions will only work if you are using my Python Cable Tray application for drawing the cable trays.
Also: Use the same Autodesk® Account for the purchase as you will use to sign in to Autodesk® AutoCAD® Plant 3D on your computer.
Smart Tray will provide additional flexibility and efficiency to the users of my Python Cable Tray app.
Main functions:
- You can change the length of any cable tray in the 3D space if it was created with my Python Cable Tray app without going into the properties window.
- Pipes can be turned into cable trays! You do not need to change the length via the properties. Just drag the pipes to your needs as normal and when they are fine, you can turn them into cable trays.
- Opposite is also possible. Trays can be turned into pipes, then the pipes can be dragged as needed and then turned back to cable trays.
- The cable tray parameters (like their lengths) can be exported to CSV files.
- The cable tray parameters can be added to the trays’ description as well (long description and short as well), this way they can be shown in the Report Creator or on the Isometric / Ortho drawings’ Bill Of Materials.
Note: This app uses a custom installer (and not the standard App Store installer).

2024-05-03: Small bugfixing for the pipe to tray conversation in case of using older scripts
This addon, along with the Python cable tray, has been incredibly helpful and user-friendly. The customer support is responsive and supportive.
Together with the python cable tray, its hard to beat this app. These apps have saved time, improved efficiency, and have helped organize my design on many projects. I look forward to any updates or other apps from this developer. Customer service is great too with quick response time and turn around.

Coupled with the Python Cable Tray, our company loves the way we can quickly run a pipe and then convert that into a tray run. Very easy to layout trays and not have to figure out the exact length of the straights. Customer support with Tamas is excellent!
