Export building geometry and luminaires from Revit and Import them into DIALux version 4

Export whole building models into DAILux 4, reducing modelling time and increasing the efficiency of your lighting calculations.

STF Export User Guide - Revit

After installation, the Add-In can be found in the Revit software environment under the Add-ins tab.

Once the DIALux Export command is clicked, the application checks whether the user has purchased the app through the Autodesk App Store or not.

Spaces must be visible in the view for the add-in to work. If not a message will be displayed for you to navigate to a correct view type with spaces visible. 

If the user is entitled to use the app, a system dialogue box prompts the user to select a location to save the .STF and DWG file.

Within DIALux, open a new project and navigate to the "import STF..." command where a dialogue window will prompt you to browse to the file which was exported from Revit via the Add-in.

All building rooms, walls, windows and doors should appear in the project browser on the left-hand side.

Luminaires will be imported as placeholders which can be swapped out for photometric files using the drop-down menu.

NOTE: The import function currently only supports individual placements and doesn't support luminaires placed as "CIRCLE, FIELD or LINE" - See User help file and for more information on calculations please visit the DIALux Website.

STF Import User Guide - Revit

Note: Space names and layouts must match the original STF export file or it will not work as intended.

Once the DIALux Import command is clicked, If the user is entitled to use the app, a system dialogue box prompts the user to select the .STF file which was exported from DIALux to import.

The luminaire types are displayed in the rows of the table, the user can assign references and families to them for each type.

The user must then select a parameter to map the reference to within the family using the dropdown.

Finally the units of the imported .STF must be selected using the dropdown before clicking import when the luminaire families will be placed within the model.

Note: On-screen messages guide the user if an error has occurred. These are described in more detail in the Revit Error Messages section of the User Guide and Help PDF.

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin.

You may need to restart the Autodesk product to activate the app/plug-in.

To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button. OR, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Windows 7/8.1/10) and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.

User Data and Security

We do not collect any user data other than that needed to purchase this Add-in. If you are asked to login to confirm a valid entitlement before using the application this is handled exclusively by Autodesk.

On installation, there may be a warning relating to the security of the Add-in. At this point, we have not purchased a security certificate to digitally sign the code through a third party.

A security certificate is included in the installation location which can be added to your known security certificates for large organizations.

NOTE: The space names within the STF file must match those within the Revit file. if you exported using the "STF Export" command this shouldnt be an issue, but if the file has

come from an outside source or the model has significantly changed the import may not work.

NOTE: When using the "STF Import Command": In DIALux, luminaires must not be placed using FIELD, CIRCLE or LINE tools.

Luminaires must only be placed individually or the import will fail.
